It is exactly the same procedure as at Ledra Palace. You show passports/ids at the Turkish Cypriot side and they stamp a small peice of paper when you enter or exit. There are policeman at the Greek Cypriot side and nowadays they just do random id checks i.e. most people pass through without being checked. However, I imagine that people of non-European or non-Cypriot appearance would stand a greater chance of having their papers checked.

You are still ILLEGAL in the eyes of the Republic of Cyprus so don't even think about trying to go through Greek Cypriot police...
