I am sure there are certain elements that want to see Chrisofias fail and make a mess of things and say 'I told you so'.
It may even get a hell of lot messier on your side, 1974 comes to mind when the commies were defeated and thrown out.
However, the government as well as showing flexibility and good faith, it also needs this to be reciprocated by the other side. The Turkish army is still being militarily ofensive regarding the buffer zone.[/quote]
WHoud that be because it doesn't matter if you elect an EOKA terrorist as or a commie as your leader your (GCs) agenda stays the same in that you want to be the sole rulers of the whole of Cyprus and us TCs as a minority with no say in our own country?

I highlighted the issue of Strovilia in another thread where the buffer zone has been violated by the Turkish army since 2000 and the fact that the UN repeatedly mentions this violation in its UN resolutions every six months. The government therefore needs to also stand firm as well as being ameanable otherwise it loses credibility.
I somehow do not believe that a communist "government" has any credibility in a democratic EU and do not believe that I am alone in this belief.
Perhaps if Christofias was in Cyprus at the time he could have had a chat with Talat and everything would have been sorted quietly. I think in the end it was right to temprarily close the crossing point becasue it had the effect of focusing the minds of the UN and foreign diplomats that want to see the process move forward. Basically it has shown that NOBODY can be complacent and that everybody needs to keep their eye on the ball.
TPapadope and his henchmen aren't very happy to have lost to a communist so don't expect them to sit back and let the commies do what ever they want without TPapadope making life very, very uncomfortable for the commies. The junta might even rear it's ugly head again.
