"Christofias accepted all the Turkish conditions"

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Do Greeks kiss for greeting? (seriously)

Ask Bananiot, he's the one with the master's degree in the fine art of hugging... Image

I’ll remind you of the tree-hugger’s announcement again…

Unfortunately, your “Let us turn Ledras Street into a Peace Avenue” campaign ended up turning Ledra Street into chaos instead of peace so what have you got to say about all this?

GR,
have a look at the ledra street chaos.............. (not from the Turkish
papers !!! )

Bananiot

I am sure there are certain elements that want to see Chrisofias fail and make a mess of things and say 'I told you so'.

However, the government as well as showing flexibility and good faith, it also needs this to be reciprocated by the other side. The Turkish army is still being militarily ofensive regarding the buffer zone. I highlighted the issue of Strovilia in another thread where the buffer zone has been violated by the Turkish army since 2000 and the fact that the UN repeatedly mentions this violation in its UN resolutions every six months. The government therefore needs to also stand firm as well as being ameanable otherwise it loses credibility.

Perhaps if Christofias was in Cyprus at the time he could have had a chat with Talat and everything would have been sorted quietly. I think in the end it was right to temprarily close the crossing point becasue it had the effect of focusing the minds of the UN and foreign diplomats that want to see the process move forward. Basically it has shown that NOBODY can be complacent and that everybody needs to keep their eye on the ball.
