A wind of change, or stuck in the doldrums?

"Once Denktash is out of the picture we can finally begin to solve the problem," a senior Turkish cabinet member told the Guardian.

"Cyprus is our neighbour, we all live in the same region, it's ridiculous that we cannot live together in peace. This issue should have been solved long ago. Turkey, I can assure you, will do everything to support Mr Talat."

With Denktaş time now taken up with taking photos in Kyrenia, will the conjunction between Turkish and Turkish-Cypriot governmental direction augur a new degree of pragmatism in finding a Cyprus solution?

No.

Talat would not approve anything TCs would not approve and it seems that the differences between TCs and T.Pap. is very very big, may be unbridgeable. (and if we assume that T.Pap. is the classical representative of GCs then replace T.Pap. with GCs.)

And in your opinion what are these differences which you find to be unbridgeable?

NO/HAYIR/OXI

I agree with turkcyp completely if anyone can bring a solution it would have been Mr Talat but with the Mr Papdop stance, its impossible to proceed let alone reach a conclusion. We will have to wait for change in the south another 30 years????by which time a lot of us will be dead.

Somehow I don't think TPap will last that long... don't want to wish anyone ill, it almost being holy week and all, but hopefully he won't be around then anyway.

Well, let's see. His mother died a couple of years ago, but of course you meant political death, yet political dinosaurs are only removed following a calamity, a tsunami or a meteor crash ...

Well, in such case then, perhaps you should ask your overseas bosses to drop an A-bomb on us.

Depends which way AKEL decides to jump at the next elections I suppose. Plus TPap is getting on a bit... not quite Klerides level yet, but near enough... isn't it about time a slightly younger leader became President (and I don't mean Christofias  )

As for dropping an a-bomb, no way, it'd ruin a lovely island. How about a neutron bomb instead?
