Brother,
The Meaning of the world patriotism has nothing to do with nationalism. The two meanings are not equal, at least as far as classic Greek literature and thought is concerned. I know in the rest of western literature the terms nationalism and patriotism are often used in a parallel or an equivalent fashion. The references to ENOSIS/TAKSIM that you make above are clearly acts attributed more to nationalism instead of Patriotism.

Patriotism doesn’t exclude universalism or internationalism. In the case of Cyprus it doesn’t exclude any of all the Cypriots (including the TCs.) It is not divisive between the two communities but rather a unifying term, provided we all accept Cyprus as our true homeland and not the motherlands.

A good definition of what patriotism means, is found on this link:

Dear Kifeas,

you know what i was trying to say but instead of maybe agree to it or otherwise you chose to split hairs about the meaning of words, i thank you for your dedication in bringing myself and others up to par with EXACT meanings of words via the dictionary you like to quote but i left my grammer school days behind a long time ago, would it be a terrible thing if you just stuck to the topic rather than try to correct me.

Regards Brother
