TCs.. You know when someone is a GC/Greek when....

Feel free to talk about anything that you want.

oh you forgot one more

21. Whenever a GC meets a TC they'll act friendly and say "oh we love TC, we used to get along so well before Turkey invaded, Turkey ruined Cyprus"... everything is politically motivated with GC.

No 4) Very true indeed. Example: Went to a GC Cafe/Restaurant in Dover Harbour.
A GC lady serving customers. Husband cooking away. English foreigners at next table talking to each other about the 'crazy' woman. I wondered what they were talking about and about who?

It did not take long to find out. At the table , all of us talking in English, the lady approached, did not ask us what we wanted off the menu. She gave us a biography of her life. How she had a palace in Kerinia, had servants and lost it all to the 'bloody Turks', how she cannot go back and the kids (my grandchildren) were starving.
I said we are hungry, can we order some food.
She only carried on. I did feel sorry for her but the company of hungry children came first.
She went on telling us how she is slaving in the UK etc. The only way I could stop her was to tell her that I was a Cypriot too. A turkish Cypriot. It worked wonders.

The place changed hands a few weeks later. All the customers complained. They asked me how I shut her up? I told them.

Ar every visit to Dover I remember the GClady. Poor woman. I did sympathise with her.

If you tell a GC you are from Cyprus he automatically assumes that you MUST speak Greek and starts to babble away at you in Greek.

They same happens even if you tell them that you are a TC from the TRNC and even then they look at you surprised that you can't understand a word they are mumbling.

It's true and is seriously hilarious, just read some of the postings from Greek/GC posters who claim that ALL TCs speak Greek.

I came accross that too. I couldnt stop laughing. Maybe true with TCs whose lived in mixed villages/towns(Limassol). That would include a mature age of 30/40 plus.
Those born after 1974 and live in the north, it would be a diiferent thing.
Unless, the poster who made that claim is talking about the TCs who stayed behind in the south. Perhaps they think they are the only TCs around.

You mean "art thou" you scoullo!

I never really paid that much attention to Shakespear at school.

And what does scoullo mean? I have lived in Australia my whole life so I do not know what you mean.

Sorry dude... "scoullo" is what the Nicosia boys call the lads from Paphos :)

Here we go again. I was always told that the Nicosia boys where always jealous of the Paphites.

I have a few Paphian mates in here so with all due respect I'll refrain from responding to that...

Ah yes, you respect the Paphians so much that you can not help but to have them as your friends.

As they say, "if you can not beat them, join them".

There are 2 types of Cypriots. The Paphians and the wannabe Paphians.

 Now you're really pushing it but I'm not falling for your bait! 8)

People like Kafenes are too dear to us to start a regional war so you can thank HIM for surviving this "bout"...

WHat do you call a bus full of Paphites? A School Bus.
