From Greece. Biologist - Environmentalist. Disgusted by certain 'know-all' Popular Scientists that play with evolutionary psychology issues. I have found out that i am not alone to say that such authors and many more baptize their prejudices as 'evidence', as many academics are contacting a war against sexist and biased ideas already, in a much more efficient way than me. To contribute to this, and because i am not exactly into this specific field of knowledge, i focus on the semiotics they use, as well as on some more specialized or scientific controversies that i can talk about with confidence. Semiotics are really telling for the bias that the writers have, so i try to demonstrate it in public, because i believe that even if some of their ideas are 'true', the pop-science product that comes as their output can be very toxic for public education and attitudes: The public cannot be expected to have necessarily read opposite opinions, and usually relies on what's advertized more.

As for other issues, i love music (it has not been satisfactorily explained by the above writers on evolutionary terms) and care for the protection of the environment. I am monitoring with interest the newly evolving 'anti-environmental activism'. I hope my little knowledge of Spanish will facilitate my much dreamed journey to America Latina.

Maria-Stella

.... sorry Zan
