These people come to Cyprus just to work and make some money. Why would a person want to enroll in a crappy Cypriot college (lately "universities")? Most of them already have college degrees from their countries. I dont suggest that is their mistake only, there should be stricter control when their allowed visas and monitoring of their activities throughout their entire stay in the island.

Yes you are right they are private Universities now, but they used to enrolled because as students they could come to Cyprus with no problem...but if they just ask visa for work wont be easy for them and is going to take ages.

They could try to change their stupid religion and develop their own countries...otherwise their prosperity will always depend from others. Sounds philosophical but that's the bottomline. :)

   Oh great you sound like Oracle now.

So for all this you blame their country, their religion and generally because they are alive. "We" the perfect people should go and tell them that right?

I didnt say anything like that. We shouldn't do anything actually. They should realise the above themselves. Democracy is a great thing and the key to prosperity. Do you disagree? It cannot coexist with the muslim law Saria. Can you name one muslim country with real democracy? :? They reduced theirselves to subhumans and dependent to Europe and North America.

First off, Yes I can name one: Indonesia, the most populous muslim country is also a Democracy. Secondly, Sharia law is not practiced in the majority of muslim countries...Wahhabism and the Taliban come to mind...but we all know how that's worked out :?

You said something among these lines. You call their religion and country stupid as well. I do not doubt that democracy is great thing but is their religion and their country. I dont think you or any other human being had a choice of where he/she was going to be born. I guess when you are a grown up you can change your religion and country if you wish. Even your name...how many of them they done that? Why is their fault that are poor and they have to go to a different country for something better. You call them subhumans and you talk with pity about them.

Its so weird to listen to people who think they are more advance than any otehr human being in this world. Even if those people are poor, with different nationality, different colour and definitely different mentality.

Can I ask a personal question if you dont mind? What is your religion?

Lena,

You keep misunderstanding what I say. It's not about me it's about them. If they manage to become self-supported they won't need to immigrate. Instead they have a dozen of children when they cannot support their own self. I wish to see them prosper and wouldn't mind helping them if they honestly want to do so. Allowing a small minority of them to work in Europe doesnt really solve their problem, does it? Look at the bigger picture and you might realise that I am right.

Sega wrote:Hello all,

I have not been online for a while. I got this job and I work silly hours, not only that but I am currently developing a personal website which hardly leaves me any time.

Anyway, the reason I am posting a thread is to find out what all the commotion was about today. I was at work, initially I thought it was a parade, and to my amazement I saw a stampeed of presumably Pakistanies, or maybe even Indian, who were protesting. Most of which had billboards expressing their frustration. They were followed by Police as to cause as little disturbance as possible. They were all chanting "FREEDOM"

I could be mistaken, it could be TC instead of the Pakistanis/India's, but since they were very dark in colour, and wore somewhat Asian clothing, I would presume their were Indian/Pakistani.

After talking to a person at work he told me that they are students asking to be allowed to work in Cyprus. I thought this must be complete b*llcr*p. We all know for non-eu residence studying in Europe is very expensive. So why would a person paying x amount of thousands require the money from the well-paying Cypriots.

I believe these people are most likely opares, or the Sunday help who have probably been mistreated in some way or form. Who knows.

I would appreciate if you could all give your point of view in a sensible fashion.

i started reading this thread and it just makes me sick. it is ok for people with money to come visit, but god forbid should they want to get a paying job? and what is this about aurpairs and sunday help being mistreated. why ever would the very hospitiable cypriots mistreat someone of a "lower class"? i remember in my visit, eating in resturaunt, across from some GC couple, with what appeared to me an aupair or some kind of housekeeper. she looked asian. and she looked hugely unhappy, supressed, in emotional pain. it was a very sad sight indeed.
