We are being pressured by an Architect that we never appointed but was introduced to us by a Builder who we only wanted a quote from, saw him for only for a maximum of 3 hours in 2 days, he then showed us a handfull of sketches which he said were drawings and then gave us an estimate of 230,000 pounds to build a timber framed house (but a bit cheaper if we paid him under the table). He then tried to get us to sign a contract and agree to hand over 40,000 pounds within 2 weeks, at that point we left his office.
We broke off all contact with him and told our Solicitor to contact him and tell him we would not be doing any business.
Now we are back in England he has sent us a bill for 8,000 pounds for his time according to some Architect and Developers Act, does he have a leg to stand on? Or do we have to waste even more money going to court?
