House Builders and Architects

We are still searching for timber framed house builders in the Larnaca area, but we are not in any rush at the moment.
Has anyone heard of Haall Construction (Harry Haritos) or Nova Cyprus?

ANGUS have built some timber framed houses in our village (near Polis) ... but they seem like a large enough company (are Scottish based) that they would probably work in Larnaca.

If you want their number, I'll jot it down and post it next time I go past their billboard.

Hi Peter. You seem to be on all forums, busy man or what???

Anyway, Haritos? steer clear is my advice. I will not say any more than that sorry, just very bad expensive personal experience.

Spa seem to have had some good reports and apparently satisfied clients ~ why not give them a shot

I'm seriously thinking of using them if I can get out of a purchase contract I already have that's gone sour and seems will take years to sort out.

Bill.

Have a look at www.cyprustimberhouses.com - might be an alternative to what you are looking for!

Do you think timber frame for Cyprus is a good idea? One major indirect disadvantage is that your choice of builders will be very limited.

Hello
We are working with a couple of developers who are building British style timber framed properties in the Paphos area (Tremithousa and Ayia varvara) these are being designed for year round occupancy with insulation central heating etc.

Timber frame can be a good alternative to concrete, however the locatin near earthquake lines etc proximity to possible fire hazzards should be investigated.

The insulation issue is very important when faced with extremes. In such hot weather you need insulation against the heat but make sure you have adequate ventilation in the roofspace.

In winter, even by British standards, mild, to us residents we do feel the cold so again efficient insulation is essential as gas, electricity and oil are all very expensive to run.

We ourselves decided on underfloor heating using cheap rate electricity. Yes they do have that over here.

Make sure you use only qualified and fully experienced contractors and architect.

About four years ago I was at the crossroads of deciding what materials to use to build our future home and if I remember well the price of a timber home was roughly 65% of the price of a steel, bricks, and mortar home so for me there really was no comparison... timber was definitely out of the question.
