Not poking in at all bill, but how do you know for definite the gender of any forum member unless it is obvious in their name of they tell you? Do you read this in their posts?

Bubbles x 8)

Oh dear, on the spot, what can I do but tell it as I see it and take the consequences although I think I'm better off taking on the Turkish Army.

From the post itself I often can't tell. The internet name often helps but what is the dead giveaway are the res ponces from other posters.

If I might take the liberty of using you as an example and it did take me ages to come to a conclusion in your case. From your name - no clue, from "bubbles" I should have guessed but didn't. From your posts - no clue in posts that I read and I have gone through your last 30 or so posts and except for the ones on gender, no clue. There is not a hint of female flirtation in any of them either that I can make out, so I come to the conc. that you may be someone who wants to be seen as a person rather than female/male. but the giveaways (I stress in your case) are the male members' responses to your posts principally in the simple amount of male responses they attract. So my guess was either you're a very popular chap who likes drinking with the boys or a woman. You want to take on the world as a person.

Now if I could take the liberty and at tremendous risk to my own personal safety, if you haven't already mauled me death given the above, someone like Lxxa ( my life is flashing before my eyes as I type )
makes it perfectly clear from the outset that she's a female, from the user name, from the avastar and from her posts, all say feminine, even to a blind bleeder like to me You can smell the feminine fragrance from the outset. I'm not saying that she's flirtatious in her posts but certainly male members are in their responses. Lena ( shit I've given away the name ) wants to conquer the world as a woman.

(I feel faint. This is the first time I have hesitated over the "submit" button, oh no, courage, they're only females. Help God)

Just notice that!

I will let you live this time BillC

BillC you can say anything you want without those xxx

By the way I will take what you said as a compliment!

Natty wrote:Hi Bill, that's an interesting analysis you make, and I can see where you're coming from..

As you say, one of the few things I've also noticed is that female members tend to get more responses in a lighter thread than they do in a political thread unless, it seems, you have an extremely strong and assertive character. I think in most cases you have to shout slightly more to get your point across if you're female, but then again it is a male dominated forum (in terms of numbers), and I'm sure if it was the other way round male members would also find it difficult to get their point across..

Another thing I've noticed is the occasional use of calling another forum member a women, and this being meant as an insult. Also when a particular male forum member is disliked, it has happened in the past that other forum members have become convinced that he must be a woman disguised as a man…

Really nice post Natty.

To be honest when I decided to start posting in the Cyprus problem section when I join I was scared since it was a male section and since I was young I believed that nobody will take me seriously. Anyway I finally did and lots of times I was ignored or not taken seriously or end up ruin the thread with light responses irrelevant with the topic. I was even told to go away and make more children for my own country since that was the only way to help. Oh dear Pyro...what a lovely memories

Anyway at some point all that have gone away ... Natty, Lana, Andry and other ladies used to post as well but only few posts...I am glad that things has changed a bit now with Tess and Oracle and the rest of the ladies who keep posting in there.

At some point I think insults and name calling put off female members.

Come on ladies. Leave the "kitchen and "powder room" sections and bring a bit more sister power to "prob" pages.

---

... Still breathing and happy with 50/50 male/female power share with all Cypriot ladies

All members must have their say and given that females make up 50% of Cy, they should have 50% of the power but no veto(s)

First of all I doubt that Cyprus forum has 50% women and 50% men. I doubt that most of the gentleman in the Cyprus problem section will agree with you...some of them (male) dont even bother with the rest of the forum but just that section and knowing the Cypriots "when men talk about politics women prepare the coffees and meal or just shut up". Only few members are like that to be fair. Anyway, most of the women hate the insults and the name calling apart from the fact that some times the same things are said in all the threads over and over again ... when they've been asked what they want they dont know but they know everything they need to blame and accuse each other...the fact that you are a TC or a GC is always there either you talk about Cyprus problem, financial problem, world problems or the weather.
