Gender issue.

When they see that a particular member is being picked on, there are those with a mob mentality that cannot wait to use this as an opportunity to have a go at someone themselves. I notice people join in with whom I may never have had an exchange with before ... Sad!

Because I regularly have threads devoted to abusing me ... courtesy of females not just males (eg Bubbles etc) it gives others the freedom to assume they can do the same.

So I find a snowballing effect taking place for a while before the dust settles ... There are also off-shoots such as this one.

Yeah ... what I detest the most is mob mentality as it tends to attract those sorts of people you would not want to exchange with on an individual basis, let alone have half a dozen similarly afflicted lowlifes hounding as a pack.

There are at least three packs that I know work together ... one of them unfortunately contains a number of the female members who work the insults together.

I guess it could be viewed as a compliment by the "picked-upon" if people have to band together to have an effect ....

BTW, you obviously related to my original post, as, being the lady that I am I did not name you. In future, I will not be so polite

Forgive a male member poking in but there is definitely, definitely a gender thing going on here. Female members are often treated in condescending ways and their posts treated less than seriously. It may be a Cypriot thing.

Not poking in at all bill, but how do you know for definite the gender of any forum member unless it is obvious in their name or they tell you? Do you read this in their posts?

Oh dear, on the spot, what can I do but tell it as I see it and take the consequences although I think I'm better off taking on the Turkish Army.

From the post itself I often can't tell. The internet name often helps but what is the dead giveaway are the res ponces from other posters.

If I might take the liberty of using you as an example and it did take me ages to come to a conclusion in your case. From your name - no clue, from "bubbles" I should have guessed but didn't. From your posts - no clue in posts that I read and I have gone through your last 30 or so posts and except for the ones on gender, no clue. There is not a hint of female flirtation in any of them either that I can make out, so I come to the conc. that you may be someone who wants to be seen as a person rather than female/male. but the giveaways (I stress in your case) are the male members' responses to your posts principally in the simple amount of male responses they attract. So my guess was either you're a very popular chap who likes drinking with the boys or a woman. You want to take on the world as a person.

Now if I could take the liberty and at tremendous risk to my own personal safety, if you haven't already mauled me death given the above, someone like Lxxa ( my life is flashing before my eyes as I type )
makes it perfectly clear from the outset that she's a female, from the user name, from the avastar and from her posts, all say feminine, even to a blind bleeder like to me You can smell the feminine fragrance from the outset. I'm not saying that she's flirtatious in her posts but certainly male members are in their responses. Lena ( shit I've given away the name ) wants to conquer the world as a woman.

(I feel faint. This is the first time I have hesitated over the "submit" button, oh no, courage, they're only females. Help God)

Hi Bill, that's an interesting analysis you make, and I can see where you're coming from..

As you say, one of the few things I've also noticed is that female members tend to get more responses in a lighter thread than they do in a political thread unless, it seems, you have an extremely strong and assertive character. I think in most cases you have to shout slightly more to get your point across if you're female, but then again it is a male dominated forum (in terms of numbers), and I'm sure if it was the other way round male members would also find it difficult to get their point across..

Another thing I've noticed is the occasional use of calling another forum member a women, and this being meant as an insult. Also when a particular male forum member is disliked, it has happened in the past that other forum members have become convinced that he must be a woman disguised as a man…

Morning bill. Interesting theory, but I wonder if you looked at all the posts signed off by me (bubbles) and not webbo before you came to your conclusion?! Confused? Let me explain....... webbo (my other half) originally signed up on the forum and I just had the quick peek now and then. Naturally I progressed to adding the occasional comments but some eagle eyed forum members soon spotted the difference in the threads (I must write like a girl your lord!) Also, webbo was blamed for something that I had written so I rectified this error! That is when I started to sign off as bubbles! I take my responsibilities seriously! I am very proud to be a woman and I have stated my gender on many threads (not the last 30 or so perhaps!) not through vanity or looking for sympathy etc but because I felt it was needed in my response at the time...............

Admin do not allow two avatars from the same e-mail address and we are very happy to share...................... for now :)

Clear as mud for you?! Wonder now if you perceive me as a 'person' owing to the 'joint posts'??!?
