LOKMACI GATE WILL BE OPENED TOMORROW

Postby halil » Wed Apr 02, 2008 1:40 pm

Reports say the long-awaited opening of the Lokmaci Gate will take place tomorrow morning.
It has been reported that the Turkish Cypriot aide Ozdil Nami, Greek Cypriot aide Yorgos Yakovu, Mayor of Lefkosa Turkish Municipality Cemal Bulutoglulari and the Mayor of South Lefkosa Eleni Mavrou will gather at the Lokmaci gate tomorrow morning for the opening ceremony.

The ceremony will take place at 9 and the Gate will be opened for public crossings by 9.30.

Speaking to the BRT newsroom, the Mayor of Lefkosa Turkish Municipality Cemal Bulutoglulari has stated that the Turkish Cypriot Side will be completing the preparatory work on its side by this evening.

Mr Bulutoglulari and Mrs Mavrou have held a meeting at the buffer zone to discuss the final details for crossings at the Lokmaci Gate.

As one of the final key works in the area, the paravane in the northern part of the Gate was removed this morning.

It means thousands more people visiting Northern Nicosia to get value for money, and a good meal.

And I wish them a happy appetite with the knowledge that they will be eating at restaurants on stolen GC land.

All for saving a couple of dollars. :?

I was over there last August. The place was full of people eating, drinking and having a good time. The main language was Greek, it was full of GC's, they seemed to be very happy...

About 78% of the occupied part of Nicosia is GC land which is stolen.

I hope so, but I doubt it due to Turkey's intransigence.
