Somehow the use of the word "Natives" got lost in the translation. I thought by putting it in inverted commas, it would have been understood that it meant only those who are not meant to be in Cyprus in the first place should leave and not the rest, Cypriots and those who are legally there. This next sentence was part of that "riddle"
....."Water shortage may well be the deciding factor in finding a peaceful solution in Cyprus.........eventually".!!!

It had a touch of political twist to it....

That will teach me to touch on politics in the General Section......

Ah ~ now I understand what you meant but as those who shouldn't be here namely the 40,000 Turkish army plus god knows how many mainland settlers are not connected to our water supply it was a bit to subtle for me to make the connection .

Presumably people are storing water in baths, buckets, pots and pans etc when they have a supply?

The cuts in the water supply are very unfair. We live in Kiti and have had the water off for 14 hours very day since last Friday, where in Dahli where our daughter lives they have not had a cut as yet. Surely every area should be treated alike.

14 hours every day? Sounds like bliss. Here is my schedule when I get water:-
7pm Monday till 7am Tuesday
7pm Wednesday till 7am Thursday
7pm Friday till 7am Sunday

Not so amusingly my parents have been storing water in buckets and other items, making extreme measures to get by with less water (currently 4 people living in their flat plus a baby), and it turns out their part of Limassol (the more tourist area) has not actually been turned off at all (look at Cyprus Mail online). You would have thought a presidential order would have been 100% everywhere. Ho hum...

Cheers

Think I am the same as you; on for 12 hours, off for 36! Nightmare!
Seem to manage ok for now - using our grey water to flush the loo and being extra quick in the shower etc. Have bought in extra bottles of drinking water though - just in case!

It is correct that only some parts of Limassol are affected for now as I know that some of the surrounding villages have not had any cuts yet! This is not fair! :x

This happened last time there were cuts, the tourist area escaped. Our village is still untouched, but it comes from underground springs not dams.

Someone told me that this last happened in 1998 or 99 - cannot quite remember! (No, I was NOT on the wine!) Going by previous posts it is not a rare occurrence either so you would think that as we are now in the 21st century, something would have already been implemented to prevent it happening again!!
AMAZING REALLY!
