Only the reputable ones; some of the smaller 'back-street' ones still let their water run away! :(

My fathers neighbour washes my fathers car once a week. He has never been asked to wash it, he just does it out of the kindness of his heart. As they live in central Limassol they are obviously aware of people and what they may think, but the neighbour smiles and says not to worry.

Two questions?
Why does your father allow it?
Why is there nothing to worry about?

Your reply has got me seriously worried about the sheer mentality of some people - I do not mean to sound insulting, but there is a WATER SHORTAGE ON CYPRUS!!!!

Judgeing by what is in the dams, it could be all year round. Unless it rains for 40 days and 40 nights in the winter.

My father returns home and his car is washed. You live in Limassol Bubbles you only need to walk down the street to see someone with a hosepipe.
Maybe when you have lived in Cyprus for fifty nine years you may understand. It is viewed as an act of kindness, no matter wether there is water or not.

You can soft soap it all you want purdey, I still call it lunacy!

I have lived through water cuts and hosepipe bans back home and the majority of people adhered to the rules (there will always be the minority who do the opposite!)

I am beginning to understand the Cypriot way of life - but without water what life will we have? It is up to us and the younger generation to start educating the 'elders' and teaching them that in order to still have running water in the future you have to make sacrifices now! I do not want Cyprus to change it's culture and way of life - just accept the current problem and act on it FAST!

Well why not be kind to the rest of us and tell him to stop washing it then? I've never heard anything so selfish & stupid.
