It wasn't a Brit nor a Cypriot. It was someone from another country (think of the Champions League final's venue)

Got to feel sorry for these guys!

Water at last for Sotira residents who had no supply since April 4
By Leo Leonidou

THE SOTIRA Water Board has come to an agreement with several residents who until yesterday had not have any water supply since April 4.

The water board at first said it did not have enough water to supply all areas of the village after it emerged that over 15 people were affected.

But yesterday, a solution was finally reached. Resident of Sotira Lake View Villas Sue Wright told the Cyprus Mail: “At long last we have a full tank and I can’t describe my relief.”

She said the agreement was for water to be provided, at full pressure, every four days.
Speaking on Monday, Wright had said she was at her wits’ end.

“We can’t have a proper shower, wash our clothes or flush the toilet as there is no pressure,” she said. “When we turn on the tap, it’s just a tiny dribble.”

The villas’ water tanks are located on the roofs, and there was not enough pressure for the limited water supply to reach them.

“Over the weekend, we pleaded with the local water board to give us enough pressure for 24 hours so we could fill our tanks, but they said that no more pressure was available and suggested we buy ground tanks.

“A neighbour has already done this and it hasn’t solved the problem, plus they are sold out everywhere so we can’t even try.”

She said that she appreciates there is a massive problem island-wide, “but we’ve got to be able to live,” adding that people living as close as five minutes away from the villas have not had a problem.”

On Monday, another woman who owns a villa on the estate said that a local engineer had come to conduct an inspection of the site and promised to increase the pressure.
“He admitted that the pressure wasn’t turned to full and told us he would increase it, but there’s still nothing,” she said.

“Some of us can’t afford these expensive ground tanks and pumps, and the situation has gone beyond a joke.”

If sense prevailed, but it does not, - stop the building! For heavens sake, how many empty houses and apartments does a country need?

Not just the houses. They are desperate to have the Yermasogia flyover finished for Greek Easter and as I drove passed today, I saw hosepipes galore in action. Now, if we were to call the authorities, what would happen? A big, fat NOTHING OF COURSE!!
I understand that these constructions are necessary and will be a great asset, but still such a waste of water under such sparse times!!

Flyover - great - but no more domestic dwellings - pure greed!

It is an unnecessary and annoying huge inconvenience to say the least! It should never have come to this had the government taken correct action!

We should have a very low water bill though as we are conserving all our grey water and using it to flush the loo and water the garden etc (however, this is not enough and the effects are taking its toll on my plants!).

The sooner this government rectify this the better!

My nieghbour has 2 huge tanks so no problems for her - yes, still washing down her paths (sure she waits till we are out now as she knows we will take pictures!) She seems to have upped her clothes washing too which seems strange to me! Only she has the answers.........................

Hope it ends soon...............................................................

I don't see how it is going to get better. Will it rain again before November ? The tourists haven't arived yet, and the Government are saying they will not be affected by shortages. My father was talking to his local counciller in Limassol at the weekend and he stressed some panic, he was unsure where the water that is needed for the summer is coming from. When my father said Greece he laughed and said at the rate they will ship it will only supply a 10th of the island.
