Funny how in NI it appears to work as both sides have compromised a word that GC's just can't understand.

There is no power to share ...

The TCs dream of this thing called "power" which they should be magically granted ..

All we have, is a vote, and the freedom to change things by subjecting them to a vote ...

Why do the TCs insist on POWER :?

..... The rest of us just want freedom and equality, to raise our kids to a good educational standard and provide some health and welfare benefits for them, should the need arise ...

STOP DEMANDING POWER ... you fascists!

Great....Then let us run the country and we will give you all that you require......Greeks out of government

First convince Turkey to accept a "power share" with Kurds so that we may learn...

Maybe I'm wrong but is it not just a simple case of we either share power or its TRNC and ROC?

I'm all for reunification but if it means I will be giving my sovereignty and just have minority status then do I really want that?

Equal power, equal rights. UnitedWeStand

About what "TC sovereignty" are you talking about? Sovereignty over what? Over lands that belong to Greek Cypriots by 82%? And if you want to keep what you stole from us under your own separate rule, then what kind of "unification" would that be? The "unification" where the only thing unified is our wallets so you can benefit from it?

Unification my friend means one country with a single sovereignty, where all citizens are equal without racist discriminations, without ethnic based segregation and without human rights violations.

So decide what you want. If what you want is partition (and therefore war), then just call it with its name. Don't label it "unification" just to sound nice.

The populations in N. Ireland are more equally balanced. 41% catholics, 59% non- catholics, mainly protestants - unless someone knows different. Personally I would be quite happy to share power with such a minority on an equal basis but equality with a minority of 18% is unfair and undemocratic. And, in anticipation of the usual, "but that's what you agreed in 1960" response I say "bollocks, we had no choice" we were told by the departing colonial power to accept or face partition. The Turkish Cypriots just can't seem to get it into their thick heads that it was the fact that they were given excessive power and privilege that was the root cause of the post 1960 troubles. CYPRUS WAS THE ONLY EX- BRITISH COLONY NOT TO ACHIEVE MAJORITY RULE AT THE TIME OF INDEPENDENCE - WHY?

(It was not true independence since three countries were given the legal right to interfere in the island's internal affairs)

I'm not looking for a fight Piratis but aren't all the above thing that the TCs suffered with in the past? What guarantee will we have that there wont be a repeat? I read in the papers the way you treat your immigrants and I find it very disturbing. You probably have the worst human rights record along with Greece. If I have to be honest a future with you people scares me. To be honest it scares me to be separated from you and it equally scares me to reunite with you.

Nothing to do with ENOSIS then and the fact that those powers where given to us because of that and not because someone was being unfair.......

And he's got the cheek to call others thick........

Did the UK keep any such huge military bases in any other of their former colonies? The answer from what I know is no.

The answer to your question is simple: The UK didn't want to let Cyprus free, Turkey also had strategic interests on our island, so they collaborated and used the TC minority as an excuse and as their pawns to deny to the Cypriot people their freedom and self determination so they could keep their troops on our island unobstructed.

Greeks destroy the Zurich agreement and then vote OXI on the Annan Plan and then turn around and tell us that power sharing is doomed to failure...Hahahahahahahaaaaaaa........I hear that Rothmans is planning a new campaign to show that cigarettes are good for you!!!

So Pinocchio, are you offering me 70% of your Girlfriend or just the lousy 30%???

I know you are married, but hey, it's not as if you cannot be Morally Corrupted and have a Girlfriend also. As a matter of fact Pinocchio, it seems to be a prerequisite for becoming "hard core" Partitionist. :D :D :D
