Yeap, 1963-1968 (didn't last until 74) was the second phase of the inter-communal conflict which the TCs started in the 50s against Greek Cypriots.
During the Greek War of Independence in 1821, the Ottoman authorities feared that Greek Cypriots would rebel again. Archbishop Kyprianos, a powerful leader who worked to improve the education of Greek Cypriot children, was accused of plotting against the government. Kyprianos, his bishops, and hundreds of priests and important laymen were arrested and summarily hanged or decapitated on July 9, 1821.

Here is the first time the "evil" Cypriots dared to attempt the "crime" of freedom:During the Greek War of Independence in 1821, the Ottoman authorities feared that Greek Cypriots would rebel again. Apparently it is fine if Cyprus is part of the British or Ottoman empires, against the will of the Cypriot people, but somehow it is not OK to be part of a free Greek State just as the great majority Cypriots themselves wanted!
Cypriots have been oppressed by foreign rulers for centuries. The only thing that Cypriots asked is to be liberated from foreign oppression just like it happened to the other Greek islands and territories.
Thats the only thing we asked for and that is for what we revolted several times, the last one being in 1955, against the colonialists. We did not attack any TCs. On the contrary it is the TCs who attacked us in 1958, starting the inter-communal conflict, because it was promised to them by Turkey and Britain that if they helped them to oppress our revolution that they would grand to them huge gains on our loss.

The Attilla line divides Cyprus since 1974. After four centuries of peaceful co-existence in mixed villages, towns and places of work, the two main communities - Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots - were forcibly seperated
