Dutch right-wing politician Geert Wilders posts Quran film.

Postby rawk » Thu Mar 27, 2008 11:48 pm

According to the BBC, Dutch right-wing politician Geert Wilders has posted a controversial film critical of Islam's holy book, the Koran, on the internet.

The opening scenes show a copy of the Koran, followed by footage of the attacks on the US on 11 September 2001.

The 15-minute film was posted on video-sharing website LiveLeak.

Its planned release had sparked angry protests in Muslim countries. The Dutch government has distanced itself from the views of Mr Wilders.

The film is called "Fitna", a Koranic term sometimes translated as "strife". Dutch broadcasters have declined to show it.

Extremely powerful film. Although it groups moderate muslims within the fundamentalist movement. This is going to infuriate the Muslim community although I agree he has every right to publish the film. Religion should not dictate freedom of expression.

why do people have the need to criticise and rubbish another peoples holy book. I have never read a holy book that does not speak of Love.

Not all holy books speak only of love...the bible for example "teaches an eye for eye," The Koran has many Suras referencing Jihad, it's all in the interpretation.

I just watched it - excellent.

I’m sure that most Muslims are completely peaceful people but they tend not to integrate into the countries that they move to… their faith seems to be much more important to them.

It really is time for moderate Muslims to stand up and be counted, to disassociate themselves from the radical elements that are portrayed on the film. Perhaps the film, and the inevitable backlash that will follow will in itself be a catalyst for that.

Geert Wilders deserves only one thing - the Saddam Hussein treatment - in public! The only good neo-Nazi is a dead one!
