SEVGUL ULUDAG A TRUE CYPRIOT !

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

SEVGUL ULUDAG A TRUE CYPRIOT !

Postby miltiades » Thu Mar 27, 2008 10:40 pm

Following my visit to Cyprus , my dear friend Halil gave me a book written by a Cypriot lady called Sevgul Uludag . I have to admit I'm not acquainted with this T/C lady and until I read her book Oysters with The Missing Pearls was unaware of her existence,. I was intrigued and fascinated by her unbiased and utterly Cypriot sentiments and felt very proud that my beliefs in the Cypriot race were not a figment of my imagination and that a journalist , a T/C lady shared all of my sentiments.
For all I know to most Greek and Turkish Cypriots this author journalist is well known , I wonder how many have read her book . I beleive that should Zan or Oracle were to read this book , would instantly embark on a major reassessment of their views on the Cyprus problem . I know that neither Zan, nor Oracle have laid eyes on this fascinating collection of real stories by real Cypriots as presented in this book.
Comments please.

Militiades
You are right about Sevgul Uludag. Her work on missing person especially is outstanding, brave and sensitive. I believe that Nikitas mentioned her work a few months back on this forum.

For English language readers you can find a regular column by her in Cyprus Today, so you can follow her investigations into the latest stories and testimonies on missing persons. She has worked for some years with a Greek Cypriot journalist, Andreas Paraschos I believe, who writes similar investigations for Politis (?) newspaper.

Miltiades, here's a link to her website; www.sevgululudag.com .I've had a bit of trouble switching over to the English version of her website,as Google says that there's a 'broken link' somewhere.

I hate fiction ... stories, fantasies .. blah blah ... need facts figures... true life events ...

Sentimentalist fools ...

Already you are talking of races ...when there is no such thing ....

The missing 1,500 GCs are too precious for the minds of a novelist ... leave it alone Miltiades ... you do not have the clout or nous to allow respect to dwell in this area until the sad, unfortunate mystery unfolds ..

My father was a true Cypriot like you Miltiades ... he did not discriminate between TC and GC ... he died a sad man, had his views trampled upon by Turkey ....

Much respect needed for this side of the Cyprus Problem ... :(

What are you talking about Oracle ? You've seriously lost the plot

Uludag is is not dealing with fantasies, she's dealing with 'true life events'. She isn't principally a novelist, she's a journalist. I read Militiades post as recommending Uludag' work. What has that got to do with missing GCs being 'too precious for a novelist' ? Should we judge Ridley's book on evolution and morality that you recommended on the basis that Ridley is one of the crooks behind the Northern Rock scandal and is a free-market fundamentalist ? No, because it is not relevant to the issue at hand. Equally that you don't like 'the minds of novelists' is irrelevant to Uludag's work on Cyprus.

May I suggest that you read this book before reverting to your usual sub standard sentiments , may I also respectfully suggest that the only fool here is you madam , not the ones you so casually refer to as sentimentalist fools . You madam , epitomise the sad little stupid bastards who caused all the pain and suffering to our people. You have no right to dismiss a brilliant mind such as that of the author with stupid little remarks .May I also remind you that the language used on this forum is English and not the nonsense that you so much try to portray as intellectual garbage. You are a pain in the arse madam and a useless contributor to the Cyprus problem as well as a liability to the G/Cs .

Phantasmagorical fool that you are CopperLine ... cannot tell fact from fiction  ... nor do you care! ...... from what I have discerned of your discourses!

... Go forth but desist from multiplying ... With impunity you do share your mindless thoughts ... without invitation you do spurt forth!

I tell you, there are some things that should remain untouched by the sullied politicised profiteers such as yourself, and those "novelists" bandwagon-riding for self-aggrandisement ...
