Big Al,Turkey is very well known as one that has a repressive government that even has the nerve to send its army to stamp out any rebellions by ethnic minorities such as the Kurds.Their human rights record is as barbaric as that of both Commie China & Sudan.I cannot understand why the governments of both Australia & New Zealand maintain ties with these 3 repressive regimes,yet Fiji has been hit with the toughest sanctions possible.Fiji is no threat to any other country.Fellow British Commonwealth member states should be working with them to see the errors of their ways,not stab them in the back.I regard the New Zealand Government's external relations & foreign affairs policies as extremely hypocritical,along with the demand that Fiji introduce democracy.We don't have democracy in New Zealand at all,as the so-called 'Maori Party' & their republican allies have held New Zealand to ransom for years.

Big Al,the people of Turkey themselves are extremely gullible,as are the people in northern Cyprus themselves.They've been buying the Ataturk propaganda for far too long.Ataturk has been dead since 1938,yet successive Turkish governments have persisted in overromanticising Ataturk as a hero,yet his regime & successive regimes had more people killed than the Ottomans ever did.
