MyVision (CYTA) pay-TV Subscriber’s Survey

Wouldn’t it be great if you could watch a MyVision Discovery channel in your home office while your spouse is watching a MyVision movie in the sitting room, and your son or daughter is watching a MyVision music channel, all at the same time and via the same MyVision subscription?

Well now you can… but what would you the MyVision subscriber be prepared to pay for this service?

Just the cost of the digibox. That gets made in china for 2 euros and then sells in cyprus for 50 quid.

No, I don't think so. At the end of the day, the data is present (and is being paid for), it just needs decoding into the correct chanel for the TV. Its not rocket science.

Whats your price out of interest?

No, it’s not rocket science at the user’s end but at the end of the day it’s hardware that needs to be paid for and installed. I haven't determined a price yet Pantheman, hence the survey. Feel free to post what you think is reasonable…

You mean Mivision is offering this service or you will do it with some hardware? I guess it is the second? Will the bandwidth they give you be enough for watching 3 channels at the same time? And since the system is IP based are you sure they will not be able to understand that you download more than one channel at the same time and cut your subscription?

I was referring to 3rd party hardware and no CYTA involvement. With regards to IPs, that's something I would need to look into with testing. You haven't answered my question though Soto... :)

I asked CYTA directly about this and they said they are preparing a solution for this - it's currently under testing and don't know neither technical or financial details. So let's wait and see ...

Does Cyprus have a Freeview-type T.V. system in which you pay for your decoder & your dish, but you don't have to worry about paying a subscription? Can you pick up overseas T.V. channels?

Aidan.
