A thread that start with all Turkish that we(non Turkish speakers) do not understand anything from it, we know that Cyprus is moving but we fight for that too, we confuse Cyprus surrounded by peace with pies and peas and with a bird who carries a whole island as a present  and finally Oracles name!

Nil, even if you think that only Turkish Cypriot will know your question you have to write it in English. We have British living on the island and might know and help you or someone might heard or visit that place you are looking for and can help...

Correct Lena, this thread means nothing to most of us, hence my taking the piss regarding peace, peas, doves, turkeys. Either this is an English language forum or it isn't - why don't admin intervene when this type of thing happens?

Why you ask me? Ask Admin.

By the way this thread meant a lot to Nil that asked for informations. Thats why I guess she created this thread. If it did not mean anything to you thats something else.

I'm not asking you to ask admin. If I felt strongly enough about it I'd contact admin myself, but frankly can't be bothered. Just seems strange to have a thread on an English-language, open forum that is written in Turkish.

Of course the thread meant nothing to me - I can't read or understand Turkish, and I'm sure it did mean something to Nil, otherwise she wouldn't have posted it. Kind of obvious isn't it? But I did want to make a point about her avatar, although she chose to ignore it, or play dumb. Who cares, life's too short.................

And your point was??? That you like pies with peas?

As for the English I already mention it to her few times, is not the end of the world I guess but it is against the rules and its annoying as well. She will sort it out.

I am sure she underestimated the reaction of forumers. A few days ago after I mentioned the Use of English, she promised to use English.

But let us not have double standards. I do realise the thread began in Turkish. She will learn, but you must also object to others who use non-English entries.

I do Deniz, but have better things to do than sit here and nagging people who use Greek or Turkish or whatever. I try to advice not nag Nil because she sound alright and worth my time.

One of the threads that was the same was the Eurovision one with Greek...somebody translate it but this person posted that just to post it....one single post for that one...why should I bother myself?

I apologise to you Lena. You were not the target of my post. It was that scots guy. Probably the only language he knows is English and really feels left out.

Time to make a correction. Cyprus is not a chunk of Anatolia. It literally rose from the sea. The process started some 90 million years ago when the African plate collided with the Asia Minor plate. As a result magma spilled into the Tethy's sea (now called Mediterranean sea) and this grew bigger and bigger as the collision continued. Pillow lavas began to set and eventually Troodos came to the surface. Serpentinite rock found at Troodos suggests that hydration took place of the mantle peridonite and an increase in volume coupled with a decrease in density caused the serpentinite to rise to an almost 2000 m height, where Olympus stands today. The plains were formed in a similar fashion with deposition of sediments at the bottom of the sea. The Kyrenia Range resulted from the collision of the two previously mentioned plates but this time there was no magma spillage but shear folding of the crust of the earth. Hence its sedimentary nature.

Parthenogenesis explains better the formation of Cyprus, rather than binary fission!

Lena, do you really want me to walk through the thought processes that lead from the TC-hardliner Nil's avatar of a dove encompassing Cyprus, to turkeys, peas, and pigeon pie? I can do so if it is really bothering
you!

Whats your problem Talisker? Not getting your porridge? Its a lovely Avatar and represents Peace for Cyprus. A whole Cyprus to boot. Stop picking on Nil.

Deniz, Deniz, Deniz  .

Bit sensitive aren't you? I'm sure Nil can stick up for herself. She certainly has some strident views. Personally, I like to challenge the views of anyone who claims the symbol of peace to support any stance they put forth. Or are you the self-appointed arbiter of 'fair play' on this forum?

If I was to be sensitive myself I could whinge about your stereotyping 'porridge' comment, and later comment 'the only language he knows is English', just because I admitted I don't understand Turkish. But I won't...................

All correct (since you pasted it without reference ... ) ... apart from the last sentence which is clearly your own misinformed interpretation ...

I have a couple of pieces of serpentine on my mantelshelf. Very attractive little rocks. May also be of interest that at various places in the Troodos I'm told that you can pick up bits of oceanic crust, a result of the process that B describes above. One of very few places in the world this can be done (outside the oceans of course).

Lttle thick headed Young Turk ... if there was any Greek written it was in the context of the language the song was sung in ...

You are an opportunist little Turk that has not learnt her place yet .... and is seeking (under instructions from Old Turks) ... to cause havoc ... You will not last long ...

You will burn like those other puppets which came and went many times..

You do not have the intelligence to hold your own ... despite all the assistance you are receiving from the TMT ...

The more you post ... the more we know ....

Dearest OrPh, the 'Mother of Misquotes'. You will be hard pressed to see any post from me delighting in the sufferings of my GC compatriots. I am proud of my beliefs re:Cyprus and its peoples. Your misquote/false allegations/lies against my person proves that you are not worthy. I dont know what type of response you expect from me, but in short, you can go to hell. I am not angry, I just pity you. FAOUSA!!
