4Kg huh? Amazing!! :D Glad everything is alright and both mother and son are fine and happy!

By the way, I knew he was Yiannis! I bet you pissed your pants.

I actually wanted them to name him after my son , Alexis , but my son in law is a traditionalist in every sense of the word so Yiannis it was !!
My daughter insists that the little one will be called John !! My granddaughter just calls him My brother !!!
Keep well Lena , will call you this week .

I left Limassol for Nicosia Monday 24th at 11 am and half an hour later my son in law rung me to say that the doctor looking after my daughter on examining her decided that a natural birth wasnt safe in view of the baby's head being in the wrong position and that a cesarean was to be carried out soon. I drove to Nicosia and as usual was met at Ledra Palace crossing by Halil . After visiting cancer tulip , where once again we witnessed the efforts of the volunteers and presented them with donations raised in London , we proceeded towards Hilarion Castle , taking in the breathtaking views on the way . We reached the top and stopped to admire the scenery when my mobile rung and it was my son in law who informed that the baby was born and all was perfectly good and that my daughter was in excellent condition.....
Those of us who are lucky enough to have experienced the arrival of a grandchild must know what an excillerating and emotional time it is , I was over the moon that both were ok and the baby in tip top condition !!
Halil shook my hand and was the first person to congratulate me and at lunchtime later on to share a glass of wine and wet the baby's head !! Only had one glass each because Halil was driving and I had left my car at the crossing . My dear friend Halil gifted me with three bottles of red wine and can report that they were all first class and very enjoyable.
I thank you Halil and a very special thank you for the book you gave me of Sevgul Uludag , OYSTERS WITH THE MISSING PEARLS .
I'm grateful that I had the chance to read the entire book and so exuberant that all that I stand for as far as the Cyprus problem is concerned is in line with the authors personal views. I shall start a new thread on Sevgul's book so as not to turn this particular one into a political one.

My wife was due to have come back with me today , but on Monday following the birth of Yiannis she announced to all that she wanted to stay a little longer on the understanding that when she wanted to come back I would fly out and accompany her back to London . We have an excellent Doctor in Limassol who looks after her and we have complete faith in Dr Demetris ( not related ) .

A short comment on the Cyprus weather in that how beautiful it was during my 6 days there .

Hi Miltiades,
i was very delighted with you . See you again .

Massallah to Yiannis .

Agreed, but when pronounced does it sound like a 'G' or a 'Y'.

If it sount like a 'G' it sound more 'Italianate', like Giovanni. I know lately the Greeks have changed from 'Y' to the 'G' letters, oh what the heck, the wonders of a 'phonetic' language.

Whether its Yiannis or Nikolis, he will be a great Cypriot I am sure.

ok you can pronounce it with light G or with a strong Y .

Not as strong as G Giovani for sure.

Whether Giannis or Miltiades he can be a great Cypriot the one who can solve the Cyprus problem maybe :)

Its the same with the Greek χ . There is no English equivalent and therefore I use "ch" to balance the accent. Μιχάλης = Michalis .

This lecture is Free.

You want to do my homework? PLEEEEEAAASSSSSSEEE?

I used G because is how we write it in Greeklish but the pronunciation is more like Y. If you try to write Giannis in English will be Yiannis or John (equivalent British name). When we write Greek with English (Latin) letters
the Greek γ is g so the words with γ like cat=γάτα become gata but pronounced like yata. Most of us we use the y for the Greek letter ψ because there is no equivalent English/Latin letter for that one.

A bit confusing with all this Greeklish I guess.

Lena mou, if michalis does not help me with my Greek, you MUST teach me when you return to Cyprus.
What about it gori? :)
