Thanks everyone for your advice and support. I not had any today so on that note, i not going to have anymore as from today. I hate smoking but i also DID enjoy it. What more important, my health or cig, that what i keep telling myself. It would have killed me in the end, so no more for me, as i want to meet my grand kids when they arrive at some point, and i want to be the grandad that can still play footie with them. But i do hope that a long way off yet, as my boys are only 17 and 18 WELL IT BLOODY BETTER BE

No still not smoking, and i not going to now, that it gone forever. I not even counting the days that gone by, even thought it has been 48 hrs 47 mins and 32 sec,since i last had my cig Mrs Mark woods39 gave up over 3 yrs ago, and every day since she given me a ear bashing about smoking. EVERYTHING I CAN FIND IN THE FRIDGE. omg i going to be billy bunter, hang on i am billy bunter I never eat brekkie but i am now Mrs mark woods 39 brought me some patches today, to help me, i thought they where for me to help quit smoking, NO NO NO they where for my push bike <puncture repair kit>for my bike. So all day i been walking around with a puncture repair kit on me, and i told her it was working great. I felt so deflated

I have been stopped now for over 3yrs and am also a qualified smoking cessation advisor.

Do not try and do it without NRT (nicotine replacement therapy) or patches in simple terms. Use them and keep using them as the instructions tell you to. You are far more likely to stay quitted with help. I would also recommend nicotine gum/lozenges to take the edge off the worst of the cravings, when in the pub, after a meal, when driving - whichever gets you worst.

Patches aren't cheap, but they are less than cigarettes and they won't kill you. Believe me, stopping smoking will change your life for the better.

Kudos to you fella. Making the decision to stop smoking is a huge step in the right direction. I agree with Murf though - a lot easier to do if you use NRT in one form or another. Avoid drinking if you can help it as it lowers the resolve and leads to temptation. And don't view it as 'giving up' your not giving up anything, your GAINING, health, life, money, brighter teeth and fresh breath, clean clothes (less cash on dry cleaning just to freshen them up) etc. etc. Think positive and write out a list of all the things you hate about smoking and why you want to quit. Read it often.
