Halil,
I am just merely stating some facts. And yes, I am in favour of peace and I hope it can be achieved not for our sakes but yours, and Turkey's (who is eager to join the EU).
Paphitis,
Most of the world knows the facts in Cyprus. That's why German Greens mp Roth visited Northern part of the island via Ercan airport .
Ms Roth, who arrived in the TRNC from the Ercan Airport together with Ozcan Mutlu and Bilkay Oney - Berlin State Assembly Deputies, was received by TC leader Mehmet Ali Talat, the Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Fatma Ekenoglu and Prime Minister Ferdi Sabit Soyer respectively.
During the visit, Roth expressed her willingness for reunification and reconciliation in Cyprus and stressed that `Europe is the idea of open borders, not walls`.
Welcoming the decisive policy of the Turkish Cypriot Side towards finding a solution to the Cyprus problem, Roth expressed her willingness for playing the role of a bridge-builder in Cyprus.‘Spring is approaching. We want it not to be a meteorological spring only, but also a political one in Cyprus’ she added.
The Co-Chairperson of the German Greens Party and member of the German Parliament Claudia Roth has stressed that she will continue to maintain her constructive support to efforts aimed at finding a solution to the Cyprus problem.
Describing the effects of the international isolation of the Turkish Cypriot People as ‘touching’, Roth said she will inform her European colleagues on the situation.
`Walls and isolations have no place in the common house of Europe` she stressed.
`We have observed the negative effects of the international isolation on the Turkish Cypriot People in every aspect of their daily lives. This is an important issue both for the solution of the Cyprus problem and the credibility of the European identity as Europe is perceived to be a common house. In a common house, there should be no walls and no one should be isolated` she said.
She also underlined the duty of the European Parliament, European Commission and the European culture in providing support to solution efforts in Cyprus.
Emphasizing that they are against the ongoing division of the island and isolations, Ms Roth said the German nation had the duty to constructively support a political settlement in Cyprus.
Yaa Papities ,
What you are trying to do is : at every platform just you are trying to isolate us or trying to stop the others not the make contacts with Turkish Cypriots . Things are changing ...... Let them to discover the TC people and their livings and society , let the people of the TC's to do business as well and this process will help for peace as well otherwise the gap between 2 sides will be increased everyday.
trust and trust must show and support ....... will lead for peace.
