We all know the reason for Ercan being called an Illegal airport is purely political so cut the crap about safety. It ain't the duty of any int. body to name a airport as illegal or legal. The only reason why GC's claim it is illegal is because they are recognised as the only official gov. on the island. Ercan in a way is still recognised wherever you are in the world on any journey bound to Ercan you always get the ECN airport code straped to your luggage.

And the only airport that would strap that ruish to your luggage would be another Turkish mainland airport. Stop talking nonsense.

And it is an issue of legitimacy and safety. For example, when overflying the Nicosia FIR, a NOTAM is often issured warning international aircraft that ATC aircraft seperation is compromised due to ERCAN air traffic not reporting to the only recognised FIR which is Nicosia. This is a violation of safety as many times aircraft contravene minimum seperation minimas. I have even heard of Cockpit True Collision Avoidance Advisories (TCAS) going off on flightdecks which means that another aircraft is flying unreported nearby and that collision avoidance must be initiated.

How would you like to be on a flight deck when you get a robotic voice blurt out the following:

"WARNING, TRAFFIC, TRAFFIC, TRAFFIC" "PULL UP, PULL UP"

This is a violation of safety standards. As aircraft are flying in NICOSIA FIR which are unreported to ATC and hence other aircraft do not know they are there until the TCAS system goes crazy. So yes, the mere existance of ERCAN violates safety standards. And there hae been numerous occasions where aircraft have violated seperation minimas as a result of non reporting to NICOSIA FIR.

What gets me is that fact that someone just comes out and asks about windsurfing in "North Cyprus". This is despite the fact that the wind surfing industry in the Unnocupied areas would surely be a bit more advanced than the occupied areas. This would anly be natural as facilities are usually better in the unoccupied areas.

And why disginguish between "North and South". There is only one Cyprus, and that is the internationally recognised Republic of Cyprus". The "TRNC will never be recognised and you guys all know this. And that is irrespectective of there being a solution. So you guys better hope there is a solution for your own sakes so that you can stop living in a Pariah illegal state and come and enjoy the freedoms we enjoy as EU citizens in the RoC.
