I cannot say exactly what I would do, but if there was no provision for people like me in the final plan while there is provision for settlers then I would do something about it, would challenge the constitution in court asking for equal treatment for diaspora Cypriots. To prevent misunderstanding, the reference is to all Cypriots of all communities who have been forced to move beacuse of the turmoil in the past.
The key is Famagusta for me. The community of the city is the only one I knew and if the city is returned I would return. Hopefully the city will be an opportunity to build something worthwhile and not another damned a la Cypriota style "development". Maybe we could declare an architectural competition among Cypriot architects along lines set by an international board of leading international architects, so we can have a city with access to the beach for all and no high rise hotels to block the view. A city with preset pedestrian ways and cycle paths etc. You know something that will set Cyprus on the map as a modern state and attract decent tourism and not lager louts. This will be the test for me and many others and will determine whether we return or encourage our children to return.
