Last week while out looking for wild asparagus, I found this bullet. Anyone know what kind it is?

Yeah I did found quite a bit but I wasn't geared up properly for the task so I couldn't pick as much as I would have liked to. The place I was walking around in is used as a firing range from time to time, so there was a lot of shrapnel all over the place. I even found something that looked like a unexploded tank missile, I was going to take it home than thought it wasn't such a bright idea

You should have learnt from your time on the forum not to mess with unexploded missiles .... 8)

Just as well. An old man would frequent a firing range, not too far from my home, to collect the shrapnel which he sold as copper, until a few months ago when he came across an unused one that someone must’ve dropped so he grabbed a rock and started whacking it to separate the bullet from the case and the last thing he heard was a loud bang…he died on the spot.

As for the type of bullet, you're meant to measure its diameter not the height. It looks very much like the standard 7.62mm military rifle ones.

Or was that 7.62cm length? :? It was a long time ago...

Nasty looking thing. Looks as if it's been fired. Be careful mate/matess.

GR I have seen a G3 bullet and it ain't even close. A rifle bullet is much smaller than this. If this thing hit you in the shoulder it would rip your arm off. Yuck! I think it's from a machine gun.

But that's because the case is missing... and a portion of it sits inside.
