So my suspicion is that the idea of Jesus and his philosophy was based on that of Epictetus.

Epiktitus was just a morality preacher he didn’t bring new ideas.

Christians brought a new way of living. Epiktitus and Stoicism in generally and also Platonism were the role models for many Christians, but in the 80%+ Christianity was based on Judaism and those Greek Christians was prosecuted, cursed and eventually eliminated.

And no there is no matching with Epiktitus teachings with the bible. He was a philosopher not a dogmatist and he spoke only about morality (the general search for morality is not a dogma), he didn’t present him self as the humanity savior and there is zero matching between Epiktitus and Jesus, if we say this bullshit we can say the same for many others.

Epiktitus weapon was only words and philosophy, Jesus (like he is in bible) used psychological force and commands and said confusing (confusing is a weapon to hypnotize, just a note) things that no philosopher could say, like this:
