Stop press: statement of the two leaders

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Jerry, I do not hurl abuse without presenting the reasons and facts as to why I object. I do get into defensive mode when I have to answer the likes of Bananiot who judge me on their assumptions.

So ... you are saying if I kept quiet ... the Cyprus problem will be solved through these talks? What happened in the last 33 years when I said nothing? ... I thought they were waiting for me to speak up !

Despite appearances, I hold out a lot of hope ... but we need to keep the pressure on.

Oracle, this thread is about the window of hope the two leaders of Cyprus have opened. It is not about you and me.

Not facts but your interpretation of facts. You are judged (by me and possibly others) by you posts of hate not by assumptions. Posts like yours do nothing to help solve the Cyprus Problem they simply push Cypriots further apart and contribute to the war of words on this site. If you hold out hope then you have a strange way of showing it.

I am not the type to cross myself and mumble let's wait and see .... or, hold hands and sing songs ....

I have hope, but I push for action ...

You have your way and I have mine ...

Extroverts and Introverts; Type A and Type B ...

Enough psychology of conflict resolution :D

(Bananiot, train-spotting geek .... don't count the "I"s ....)

Truce accepted!

quite frankly, i will publish it before I send it, and i hope by then that others will support it and that your comments are included in the topic where this discussion is sought. while failure is the most likely outcome, it is not impossible, it is in essence our only choice, and like the political-economist, in that dismal failure, there is the process of try, and try again.

Cyprus Mail letters section might be a good start.

And Oracle, I have read many of your posts, and I do not want to criticise you but can I kindly request that you tone it down a little as I can not help but come to the conclusion that many of your posts are a little unconstructive in the present environment of optimism. The Cyprus problem will only be solved if both GCs and TCs discard the past and look forward to a better future. We must not engage into a blame game or return to anachronistic ideals.

This also applies to many others as well. Many of our TC friends on this forum can also tone down their language a little. If everyone remains positive, then we will have progress.

If by tone you mean do not counter incorrect posts with articles and facts, then no, I will not stop. You are impressive, but not enough to convince me, yet! ... your method is different to mine, that is all.

I am not a diplomat. But I am used to getting what I want. My style, though lacking in sophistication, has a high success rate. I don't like pretence and avoiding facing the worst case scenarios.

Basically, when crossed, I shame the opponent, pedantically criticise, never forget, shout and nag my demands for rectification. I have boundless energy when I get the bit between the teeth and hold on until the other side admits defeat.

...... That is when I negotiate what I am prepared to accept ... they usually receive more than they expected (depending on their behaviour) and go off happy and grateful ...

... A Win-Win situation .... :D

(Ooohh BTW ... of prime importance is the confidence from knowing I am on the right side to start with .... )

But Oracle, do you not see that your method will only create further division and hatred? The only way we can move forwards and achieve a solution is by reconciliation with the TCs. For this to happen, we can not engage in any blame games.

I know you also want a solution to the Cyprus problem, I just think that you may be going about it the wrong way.

yesterday, besides the fact that christofias and talat did well, I could help but notice the insistence of reporters to highlight sth negative.

the tc journalist wanted to know if the coffee was anan or 8th of july, when the announcement was clear.... we avoid names so we can proceed..... but he insisted, before and after the meeting....

the gc journalist followed asking if there were any disagreements on the procedure!!

And if you notice the body language of the 2 leaders, they did not seem to be impressed with the ridiculous questions.
