TC leader Mehmet Ali Talat has met with Ambassadors of five permanent member countries of the United Nations Security Council.Today’s meeting came just a day before Friday’s meeting between the two leaders in Cyprus. The meeting between Talat and the Ambassadors took place at the TRNC Presidential Palace.

At a joint statement after the meeting, the US, the UK, Russia, China and France expressed their support to efforts towards finding a settlement in Cyprus.

CLAUDIA ROTH VISITS LOKMACI BARRICADE AND VILLAGE OF PILE
As part of her contacts, Claudia Roth visited the Lokmaci Barricade and the mixed village of Pile this morning.
Speaking during the visit to the Lokmaci Barricade, Mrs Roth expressed the need for the opening of the Barricade as soon as possible.

Ms Roth, who arrived in the TRNC from the Ercan Airport on Monday met with President Mehmet Ali Talat, the Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Fatma Ekenoglu and Prime Minister Ferdi Sabit Soyer yesterday.
During her visits, Roth expressed her willingness for reunification and reconciliation in Cyprus and stressed that `Europe is the idea of open borders, not walls`.
Welcoming the decisive policy of the Turkish Cypriot Side towards finding a solution to the Cyprus problem, Roth expressed her willingness for playing the role of a bridge-builder in Cyprus.

For his part, President Talat reminded that the Turkish Cypriot People clearly put forward its will for the solution of the Cyprus problem and unification during the 2004 referenda on the Annan Plan, adding that they are still seeking for a solution.
Later, German Greens MP was received by the Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Fatma Ekenoglu.

In her speech, Mrs Ekenoglu said the arrival of Miss Roth from Ercan airport is a very important development at a time when the Turkish Cypriot People is suffering from difficulties in many fields including transportation and trade due to the ongoing international isolation.
For her part, Roth stated that she knows the bitter past of the Turkish Cypriot People.

Underlining the importance of remembering the past she said what is more important is to work for a peaceful future.
Claudia Roth was then received by Prime Minister Ferdi Sabit Soyer where she said the consequences of the international isolation on the Turkish Cypriot People are very touching.

The fact that the Ambassadors Plenitpotentary and Extraordinary of the United States of America, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the Russian Federation, and the People's Republic of China all visited Mehmet Ali Talat at his residence at the Quirini (Cephane) Bastion - is definitely newsworthy. That's making a clear statement of their recognizing Mehmet Ali Talat as the ligitimate leader of the Turkish Cypriot Community on Cyprus...

It means, GR, that HE is the person that RoCy will need to deal with. Not Turkey, and not pro-South Cypriot elements in the north. Nope, it has to be Talat.

She should have never been allowed into Pyla, she came into the country illegally and therefore should not have crossed over to a legitimate entity on our Island.
