How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Maybe we should ask for details of that period under the freedom of information act.

That would be interesting.

It was said at the time (I doubt its authenticity) that when the Turks saw the Gurkhas they were terrified. They were wondering who these strange looking soldiers were. They did not know that the Brits looked almost 'mongolian'.

It's clearly documented on a British website, I've got it somewhere in my links but it's not worth my time to find it. Basically, the then "governor" or whatever he was/is asked that union jack flags be placed in various locations around the base so that the advancing Turks would see them... as happened. End of boring story.

Turkey during the intervention didn't have an issue with the Brit's so therefore it's Sovereign was no ignored.

Wrong. In the 1923 Treaty of Lausanne Turkey got rooted big time by Britain who capitalized on Turkey's loss of WWI and annexed Cyprus.

But anyway, there was never an issue of Turkey confronting the SB as the Attila line was predetermined with the involvement of the US/UK.

Right as Turkey signed the Zurich agreements also - so Brit's Sovereignty was honoured. Only issue was with GC's and RoC.

Turkey asked to invade Cyprus through the bases ... the Brits realised this meant they wanted to capture the whole island and refused them the use of the bases.
