You don't get it. This thread is about lack of trust, suspicion and stereotyping.

You have successfully demonstrated all 3 in one short sentence.

Perhaps you had better acquaint yourself with the fact that regular habits produce the idea of a stereotype ... and if Turkey did not habitually invade other people's territory and conduct genocides and ethnic cleansing .... then it would not attract such labels and perhaps trust will follow....

If retaining Turkish troops is the only sure way of protecting the Turkish Cypriot people, then so be it. The Greek Cypriots - given their attitudes - I believe cannot be relied upon to fairly treat them...

Perhaps the fact that the Turkish Cypriots cannot be relied upon when it comes to matters of national interest is causing this. The constant TC requests that foreign troops (Turkish) be kept on the island for THEIR protection is testimony of this.

Please explain what you mean by 'national interest' so that I can separate it from GC interest.

Turkish Cypriots have always sworn allegiance to Turkey and NEVER to Cyprus so it is by no accident that they have a confused sense of Cypriot identity. How can they feel part of a place they’re constantly fighting against?

Historians say that Cyprus was colonized by Turkey between 1571 and 1878 but the truth is that Turkey has never stopped being the occupier even after 1878, for they have left behind an army of civilians always ready to serve Turkey even at their own peril!

The question that begs to be answered though is what makes this civilian "army" insist on remaining on a small island whose natural inhabitants they seemingly loath if not to gradually implement their underlying goal of Turkifying the island?

Does Cyprus REALLY have a Cypriot minority of “Turkish descent” or is it Attaturk's thorn in disguise?

GR are TCs expected to support their own demise, firstly you wanted Cyprus to be a Greek island, then you wanted to gift it to Greece, then you decided you didn't want us in government, then you persecuted and discriminated against our community, do you really expect us to support all this crap in support of Cyprus and dig our own graves?

"Stereotyping on both sides has been rampant, and I have to admit, I have been guilty of this as well. I personally feel that Greeks and Greek Cypriots cannot be trusted to keep their word given to the Turkish populace, and that Greeks simply regard Turks as inferior savages."

This is one of the most offensice posts ever on this forum. When have you seen stereotyping in here, even by people like Big Al who tends to lose his cool more easily than the rest of us, or any expression that the TCs are inferior savages of the GCs liars. as a generalisation? There have been personal attacks but never a racial insult that I can recall. The only time that has happened has been by GCs against GCs or Greeks.
