Is Cyprus Too Expensive

Feel free to talk about anything that you want.

Hey,this was all forecast but no many people heeded the warning signs.I am afraid Cyprus will see an initial downturn in all walks of life, but they will come out of the other side.
Unfortunately there are those (the poorer) who will just get poorer.

From a business point of view, based on my business, importing to Cyprus.
We are looking at an increase in product price in the Cypriot market place of 9-12% this year. With a further projected increase up to 18-20% in the next five years.
This will be in line with imports entering Greece, and some other EU countries.

Wages will have to rise in Cyprus to keep in step,or business will have to cut it's profit margins.
It is a no win scenario,in the short term...

Well... you can`t compare Cyprus with others UE countries. Why? Because expensive countries, normaly, have good salary avarage. In Portugal you can drink a beer, in a good disco, just with 1,5 Euro. But the salary here is like sh...

I heard that in Portugal and Italy you cannot find easily jobs and the salary is not that high. A Portuguese and an Italian friend of mine mention that when they announced us that they decided one to stay in UK and the other one in France because of the luck of work. I do understand that we have things more expensive than other countries and things cheaper than others. Of course EU and euro will change things in our economy but I dont think other European countries are doing a lot better than us.

You`re 100% right lena...
Cyprus is a young country in UE and Euro... but you`re right... we did a lot mistakes and i think that Cyprus has to learn with the others "old" countries.
Portugal aren`t suporting the "velocity" of others countrys... because the Euro... I hope that with Cyprus everything will be diferent. :)

they should have installed windmills all over the Akrotiri, screw the bases... that would electrify whole Limassol if not more... is almost always windy there with steady seasonal wind directions (WSW in summer and E in the winter).

If not wind, then SOLAR!!! Free electricity 90% of the time!!! I am so pissed off that i have to pay 500Euros EAC bill on average...
