As far as I know Deniz, when land in the south is used in public works the owners are compensated for the expropriation. The rates are not good, and that is a sore point, but they are equally bad for both GC and TC owners. The TC land in Larnaca airport was expropriated, along with GC land, in this universally unfair manner. The point being that there was no discrimination based on race etc.
Coming to Lefkoniko and this pie in the sky project to build the biggest commercial airport in the area etc, to export the products of the TRNC. Were they any expropriations paid to the owners? When? By who?
Aside from the immediate GC versus TC angle there is another one that is maybe more bothersome, the creation of businesses on "cost free" resources thus building false economies which at some point, someone will have to cover financially. One of the things life has taught me is that real wealth is created, not taken. Creators get rich everywhere, takers usually leave debts.
