The village is fairly typical with the style of houses, but it is the Church that is so beautiful. There is also a lovely restaurant there which is also a Butchers shop famous for the woman Butcher! They make wonderful mezze and their own farm supplies the lamb chops!! Maria, who runs the restaurant makes THE BEST yoghurt I have ever tasted. It is located in the North-West. Maria speaks fluent English Turkish and Greek and every Sunday the place is packed with Greek Cypriots, Turkish Cypriots and just a few foreign tourists. It is well worth a visit!!

I love yoghurt! Never really ate it back home, but now as I eat salad every day I eat - well - just cannot get enough!!

Until I came to Cyprus, the only yoghurt I ate was bright pink, sickly sweet with lumps in !!!!

The picturesque village of Agros has been chosen as a European Destination of Excellence (EDEN).

EU - EDEN CYPRUS
The picturesque village of Agros, situated in the Pitsilia region at the Troodos mountain range, was selected by the Cyprus Tourism Organization (CTO) as the best national tourism destination in the framework of the European Commissions EDEN project (European Destinations of Excellence).
The EU project was related to Tourism and Local Intangible Heritage. Agros, situated at 1100 meters above sea level, was selected as the best tourism destination of Cyprus for its Rose Festival, which takes place every May.

Agros is a village famous for its rosewater industry, which started in 1918. Every May, the annual week- long Rose Festival takes place in the village, at the peak of the rose blossom.

Agros would be a nice village to visit as a tourist, but for the locals it's just another village looking for tourism. There are so many beautiful hidden villages in Cyprus that one could visit but most of them don't provide accommodation.

Here's a shot from the hotel room balcony in Agros.

I agree. There are many more pictoresque villages in Cyprus, especially in the Troodos region. It would be very difficult to single any one out.

Karmi, in the north on the Pentadaktylos, beneath St. Hilarion would be a candidate for the best scenery; but then there is a lot I have never seen.
