Postby dbm » Sat Mar 15, 2008 4:24 pm

Hi everyone, I'm a 29 years old argentinian who's going to arrive to Nicosia next week. Sugestions, recomendations, where to go, where to play tennis, where to meet people... here probably?.
Thanks.

Depending on what you like you can visit Eleftherias square which is in City Centre and walk along the Ledras Street. There are many cafes along this road where you can have a cup of cofee or lunch. This road is expected to be linked with the North so you may experience this while you are in Cyprus. I hope you know the currrent political situation. You will realise this as soon as you visit Nicosia especialy the Old Nicosia near Ledra Street.

There is a tennis club near the Ledra Palace crossing to the North but you need to register or become a member to be allowed to enter in. Bank of Cyprus sports centre has also a tennis field but it is in Latsia 15 minutes from Centre and you need transport.

The weather now is the best of the year not too hot and not cold either so I guess you will have a good time If all things go as planed.

Good luck

Will you be with the Argentinian UN army contingent? Michalis, is that all Nicosia can offer a lonely (soldier) who is far away from his homeland?

Of course not Bananiot :D Is he a UN soldier BTW ? This is just for a good start :lol:I guess shopping malls and cinemas has lots of them at home. The Old Nicosia has a special unique character and hence my recomendation above.

You will be amazed to see how many people walk along Ledra Street at these sunny days away from traffic. :D

I thought he was coming for holidays or business!

My guess would be that he is an Argentinian with the UN based at UNPA (the old airport).
