Based on what do the Turks demand that they should rule land that belongs to Greek Cypriots by 82%???
If we will make a compromise for a federal solution, that should be not be achieved by TCs gaining land on our loss, but by a fair exchange of land, where GCs and TCs will own the same proportion of land as it legally belongs to them, just in a different place of Cyprus. That means that any "TC state" can not be more than 18%.
If the Turks want to gain on our loss by means of war, ethnic cleaning and brute force the answer is simple: NO WAY. The war will go on until the Turks stop trying to gain on our loss.
P. You have said in the past, words to the effect that you're not prepared to compromise a number of basic human rights and I, for one, have taken on board your recent posts about the difference between a solution and an agreement, so I am a little concerned to see the third paragraph in your post starts " If we will make a compromise .. federal solution..."
Are you going wobbly on us brother? Solution or Agreement ? Or have I got it wrong?
Bill, as long as the compromise is not on fundamental principles such as human rights and democracy, and as long as the Turkish side makes compromises of an equivalent magnitude from their rights, then a solution based on federation can be found. It will not be ideal, but if it meets the above requirements it will be a solution in my opinion.
I was never against compromises. What I am against are compromises on fundamental principles (human rights, democracy etc), and one sided compromises where one side only gives and the other side only takes. And I am always referring about rights here. Turks just giving back what does not belong to them in the first place does not count as a compromise.
