Missed Flight

Postby markwoods39 » Sat Mar 15, 2008 10:17 am

At 4.30am this morning, we left for luton airport we went down a country lane it quicker to luton only 30 mins drive from us. There was a car in front of us which was going about 40mph, but he seemed to be drunk, as he kept crossing the other lanes. As we was half way to the airport he put his food down, we lost view of him, then we came to a sharp corner, and there was the car upside down, we nearly hit him.

The man is in a bad way, we had to wait about 15 mins felt like hrs though, for the ambulance to arrive and the police and fire engine, to cut him out.
We was blocked in,i could not go anywhere, the police wanted a statement of us but we never saw how it happend i told them.

Anyway after the clear up and removed the wrecked car, we could move time now is 06.15 and our flight was leaving at 07.15am. We got to the airport but we was to late. We arrived at luton 06.50 after we park the car.

I am very mad, that was lost our flight and our holiday, as i have to be back in the uk next sunday for work. The man was rushed to hospital, don't know how he is yet.

So now i have a week doing nothing here in the uk, i did look up flights for tomorrow , but they are £300 each not worth it, and they are going from gatwick 2 hr drive from us.

I am now going to make a coffee, and have some self pitty :(

What a bummer... :(

Are there no cheap 'standby' flights available with Thompson or anyone tomorrow? Sundy is the big changeover day here...

Poor you, EnglandGrump!

Couldn't the airline assist - considering your extreme circumstances?
Did you have insurance?

We did tell them the circumstances, but they said all bags are now loaded. Yes we are insured, but do not think they will pay out though, or will they. Have to ring them once they are opened

Depends on your insurance but they should pay out. Not as good as a holiday I know!

Couldn't the airline put you on a later - or even standby flight?

Good luck with the insurance

There a flight from gatwick, they said we could have, but it was fully booked, we could have got down there and waited to see if anyone would not turn up. What is the chance of that happening. The last 3 times we been over ,the plane was full :(
