Good question, and a tough one I may add. We'll, it's clear that someone is promoting the fall of the Division before an official solution. Also, isn't it a coincidence that the first opening of the Cyprus "Cease-fire line" was recommended by former TC leader Mr Denktash!
And, please remember, it's NOT a "Border", but a "Cease-Fire" Line. If you call it a border, that means that we accept the so-called TRNC! While, a "Cease-Fire Line" means the split of the Republic of Cyprus, thus the "TRNC" does not exist!
The call by the Turkish Cypriots to declare the "Cease-Fire Line" a "Border" recently in Brussels is another one of their tactics of recognition of the present so-called "TRNC".
Therefore, my answer to your question is as following, the pulling down of the so-called "Division" of the Cease-Fire line before a Cyprus resolution is just Dentash's way of forcing the acceptance of the so-called "TRNC". This is actually a serious matter for our Cyprus government that has seriously been overlooked. Do they not know what they are doing?
As for what I would recommend, I would close all check points and use our European Membership influence to demand Turkey's removal of its troops and the return of the northern territory with the Republic of Cyprus. I know it may sound unrealistic in today's messed-up stance of events, but that's who says the truth doesn't hurt. Turkey took advantage of a weak moment in Cyprus history and has dragged this issue to what the UN wants to re-introduce as the "Annan Plan" scenario. In my opinion, the UN Process is a seriously undemocratic demand of the "People" of the Republic of Cyprus.
I say people, as we have all Cypriots and foreign nationals living in the ROC, even Turkish Cypriots.
First of all Andros...The land does not belong to the "RoC" but to the CYPRUS REPUBLIC which does not exist any more. Secondly.....How can you have a legitimate crossings in a "Cease fire line"...There can only be crossings at a border!!!!!TCs cross over by showing their passports and not waving a white flag
There we go again...Zan against the rest of the world. The country is a member of CN, CE, CFSP, EBRD, EIB, EU, FAO, IAEA, IBRD, ICAO, ICC, ICCt, ITUC, IDA, IFAD, IFC, IHO,ILO, IMF, IMO, Interpol, IOC, IOM, IPU, ITU, MIGA, NAM, NSG, OPCW, OSCE, PCA, UN, UNCTAD, UNESCO, UNHCR, UNIDO, UPU, WCL, WCO, WFTU, WHO, WIPO, WMO, WToO,
and Zan says it doesn't exist. You'd be crap in war mate...eveyone would be screaming at you to watch out for that grenade and you'd insist its a pineapple.
