Personally may be not. HE does not need to take the gun and go and kill people to be responsible for many deaths.

As far as we know Osama Bin Ladin did not kill anybody personally either. But he still is responsible for many deaths.

For me if you are at the rulling sect of a terrorist organization then you are responsible for many deaths. T.Pap. was like political arm of EOKA. Sinn Fein of EOKA of you wann call it. SO he has huge responsibility in many murders, even though he may not participate himslef, or even though he may not even gve the orders. Just being silent while the orders are being executed bears responsibility as well.

We are talking about a guy who even last year claimed in an Arabic newspaper that not even single TC has been killed in Cyprus. C'mon.

Insan, please give me a break!!!

Feel free to take a break whenever you wish!!!

Anastasiades and all his party top members and leadership as well as all other political parties (including DEKO) have daily contacts with political parties from the north and also participate in all bi-communal parliamentarian meetings at ledra palace.

Daily? The political parties which have representatives in parliaments of both sides have such contacts which usually end up with frustration.

Eroglus party and him personally have never ever appeared on any bi-communal meeting and they have absolutely no relationship with any GC political party or political personality.

Eroglu's party was isolated by CTP, DP and BDH. The main reason is this. Nevertheless it is true that Eoglu and his party is not as cheerful as the TC parties in power or small left wing parties to have contacts with the GC side but if Eroglu and his party were a part of the coalition in power, they would attend such bi-communal meetings.

They refuse to even salute or even look at a GC, set aside to have a any meetings and talk about anything, even if it is about the weather.

When did you witnessed such behaviours of Eroglu and his party? I know so many UBP partisans which have commercial relationships with GCs. They frequently come together at the weekends, sometimes in North, sometimes in South to drink vol:31 and Anglia.

Can you name to me anyone single GC political party that has even a fraction of similarity to the behavior and attitude of Eroglou and his party towards the other community.

Democratic Rally for Europe is even several times worst than Eroglus party when compared.

If not, then your opinion about Papadopoullos is definately totally distorted. Of course why it shouldn’t be distorted since we have people like Bananidot who spread rubbish all the time. (Excuse me bananidot!)

Rightly or wrongly TC consider TP to be of the 'old guard' - to be personally and directly involved in the decisions that led Cyprus into disaster (and TC into pain and suffering from 63 onwards). I personaly am still undecided about TP sincerity and his true desires for Cyprus as a whole. He can be a very enigmatic personality. However what damanges my impression of the man far beyond anything people like Banniot might say is what the man himself says - and the statement from him last year that no TC was killed by GC in the period 63-74 is the most damaging of these. How is a TC supposed to judge such statements? What impression would it give you of Talat if he were to claim that no TC ever killed a GC?

You keep bringing up this issue. What evidence do you have for such allegations? Papadopoullos has never been personally involved to any criminal or likewise acts against any TC. To the contrary to the best of his power and authority during those days (1963-1967,) he tried to eliminate or at least minimise acts against TC civilians. If you have any such information to the contrary, I would like to know it. Apart from the bullshits of Bananidot.

Kifeas, are you aware of that for every positive allegation about Tassos, you surely speak like an eye witness but when someone talks about the negative allegations about Tassos you label them Banan-idiot etc. I have never heard you critisizing any of the current GC political parties; talking about their mistakes.

What I'm sure about Tassos is that he is a man in Makarios and Kyprianou line. From 1955 to 1965 they were together with Grivasites. Then they have obliged to change their stance becuse the Akritas scheme didn't produce the results they expected. To the contrary of this the Akritas scheme brought many things which worsened their positions. The incidents which occured as a consequence of puting Akritas Plan into implementation; provoked Turkey and increased the possibility of the miltary intervention. The Enosists in line of Makarios were wise enough to realize this and exert effort to change the situation. In 1967, Makariosites changed their stance not because they had mercy, respect and love for TC community but because of their own self-interests. It is a well known fact that the sole aim of Grivasites have always been Enosis and the sole aim of Makariosites have always been to create a GC state with a TC minority in Cyprus by hiding themselves behind the democrasy and self-determination right of the people of Cyprus. However the fact is that Cypriots could have never been one people. Therefore TCs can neither be treated like a part of GC nation nor a minority in Cyprus. TCs either should be considered one of the politically equal community or two communities should seperate their roads by reaching an agreement on partition. There's no any other alternatives. However, in case of world war things can be different. It's hard to predict what would happen in Cyprus during the turmoil of a world war.

A trivia question:

Who had said the following on 23 October 1967 in Lemassol, “Freedom for us means only the integration of this southern outpost of Hellenism into national entity.”

P.S.: I just realised that this topic had drifted off and became a topic about T-Pap. So, off the top of my head, would the guy who said that be... Tassos?

Insan wrote: EOKA - B wing of DESI that split from DESI awhile ago is even more agressive and extreme nationalist than any TC party exist in North.

No Insan that is NOT true. Those who were expelled from DESY are in vast majority young people below 45 years old! Actually Anastasiades forces out "everyone" he considers a "danger" to his kingdom. Akel was doing the same in the past by the way. He even forced out the only lady who was among the founders of DESY. The fact is everybody in DESY is an "absolute supporter" of the Eoka struggle some of them were actually Eoka B members too. But those who were expelled were not Eoka B wing. Absolutely not! The Eoka B wing is still in Desy.

Anyway for me either DESY (=West) or Anatoli (=East) or any other party is nothing but roten shit and I bless them all likewise in every election that they force me to go vote. You know in the "free areas" refusing to go vote is a crime!

Erol wrote: What impression would it give you of Talat if he were to claim that no TC ever killed a GC?

Nothing! I would still continue to have the same opinion about him and judge him for what he did so far and what he will do in the future.
Perhaps it would pass through my mind that he actually doesn’t know, or he is just telling nonsense. Everybody tells nonsense from time to time isn’t it, I mean look at how many nonsenses G. Bush said so far. . . It would matter for me if that statement was repeated however. Such thing did not happen with Papadopoulos.
Anyway for me too Papadopoulos is still unclear. Talat is unclear also. I guess we all have to wait a bit more.

Now about this matter of electing Papadopoulos. Everytime we had presidential elections we were presented with old Bananas. Kyprianou, Clerides, Papadopoulos, ex Ministers of Makarios, Ex - attorney Generals, ex Bankers etc etc. All coming from the 60s most of them with direct links with Eoka. The only exception so far was Vasiliou, who although among the greatest Capitalists got elected with the support of Akel. In fact with the exception of Clerides all other Presidents were elected because of Akel. On the other hand Akel cannot present a real leftist President. As you know all Presidents have to go to the US to get approval first. Papadopoulos himself went to the US to get their approval befor becoming President!!
So what I predict is that Papadopoulos will not be re - elected because he already lost his US "approval". Who then will be our next President if the CY prob is not solved? I beleive it will be one of the new generation similar to Talat. An exact copy of the previous black and white figures, however with a more pleasant colourful image.

Now that I mentioned it I would really like to know what is the opinion of our TC friends in this Forum regarding Vasiliou.
I mean we know they do not like Makarios,Kyprianou, Papadopoulos and pehaps Klerides how about Vassiliou? My personal opinion is that he was worse than Klerides in selling out our rights!

His office looks like a fascinating place... I'd find it a bit offputting if I was there interviewing him and he kept taking pictures of me though!

Maybe I should try setting up an interview with him and see what happens
