I love stick insects ... I used to breed them ... never intended to, they just kept reproducing, the little hermaphrodites

They are to be found in hedgerows all over the South-West of the UK now

This was not a "Supply the Caption" this was a pure and simple Piss take of a couple of old dears, who happened to be Cypriot. What made it even worst was the fact that the Piss take also included the particular day. It may not be significant to the CL lot but it was very significant to many GCs so really it was a double insult IMHO.

Shame i didn't get to see the posts by Oracle and DT before it was pulled.

The Admin JIM, should hold his head in shame.

 Sorry, I too missed the link. How can you be certain they were 'Cypriot old dears' and not elsewhere in the world? Significance of what day? :? :?

Thanks

I saw another thread somewhere here about what Cypriots believe about the British. Things like that are going on for few month now around here. It was not like that when I joined the forum. People around here wanted to help the British who wanted to visit, get married or live in Cyprus as much as they could and they try to present our country as good as they could. On the other hand British who used to live here or they were interested to move in Cyprus were asking questions or adding comments with respect towards the Cypriots and the island. I am not saying that we did not have exception in both sides but lately is out of control.

Cypriot members start complaining about the British and British members or European members complaning about Cyprus. I am so sick of this situation.

As Niki said some of the other forum might say bad things about Cypriots but at least they provide help to the ones that need it or have better things to do than sitting around and swearing to each other.

I am really glad that Niki, Webbo and Bubbles, RichardB and Bill live in Cyprus. No matter what they love this island with the bad and the good ones, they see the reality, that this island can offer them some of the things that they wanted and they expected to find when they moved to Cyprus. They accept Cypriots with their mistakes and disadvantages and they will try to protect this island when people talk with the worst way about the island and Cypriots. I can see love for this island through their words that I am ashamed that some of Cypriots dont have for their own country. Of course I respect them for another reason as well. They admit that UK has mistakes and is not perfect but they love it because is their country and they try to protect it from bad comments as well.

I am disgust by people who decided to come and live in Cyprus and they have nothing good to say but they are still on the island. I am also disgust by the foreigners that because they are away from home they act like ******** giving they impression to Cypriots that British are all *******.

Cheers Lena mou for your very profound words, you are so kind.

Pity there were not more like you out there :(

You only get one crack at your life, so make the most of it!

There's actually a phenomenon for it, coined by the Ozzies: The Whinging Pom.

Here they are again moaning about how cruel Cypriots are to animals...

http://www.cyprusliving.org/phpbb/nfphp ... sc&start=0

Don't get me wrong, I am against cruelty to animals too. But these are the same people who walk past other human beings lying in the street in the UK without missing a step, and would never think to stoop and help. But for a cat they will take a machine-gun and mow you down ! I never understood the lack of compassion for other human beings in the UK, yet they treat their cats and dogs like royalty. They let the dogs lick their faces and kiss their lips and such, or sleep in bed with them - how disgusting. I remember as a kid, the englezi next door used to cook steak and onions for their dog, while their kids would get a tiny frozen tescos pizza ! We nearly had a heart attack when we saw that, I never forgot it.

It has been said that the further a society moves away from genuine human contact and relationships, the closer people become to their animals as a substitute.

I'll take the cypriot way of life anyday. Yes we need to learn a lot about kindness to animals, I do not dispute that. But the English have no right to judge us when they are seriously lacking themselves.

Good observations J&J

Treating animals like surrogate children is tantamount to abuse.

The psychology behind such needs is very interesting.

Of course you can buy the love of animals with food and therein lies the attraction.

...... Easy way to acquire adoration and control .....

It might explain why a lot of British people have serious trouble discussing issues without falling-out of friendship if you express a difference in opinion ....

Oracle and J&J. generalisations again and you are so far off the mark...
its really rather laughable if it wasnt so patently claptrap. but of course you are entitled to your opinions on the subject. but please no more stereotyping.
I love living here, i have great neigbours, i treat them with respect, they make myself and my wife very welcome, I love animals, i have never been to essex, never slept with a dog, dont walk past people who need assistance anywhere in the world, dont know the difference between a greek cypriot and a turkish cypriot and dont care that i dont.
I judge people as individuals not on the basis of their country or creed.
i hate what has happened to my country and the decent people, but i accept that i am a foreigner here and act accordingly.
in short i am just an ordinary person making their way in the world and i would like to be judged on what i do not what race im from. (incidentally there is no such thing as being English anymore, you have to be British according to the government)

:) Very good post BOC and I ditto your remarks - except I have reverted to calling myself English so bugger the government!!!!

A very sensible and well presented post by Lena , one of my favourite Cypriot ladies with whom I have had the pleasure of sharing a few hours with , having a meal and a bottle or two on more than one occasion .Met her mum too and little brother , wonderful Cypriot people as Murray would say !! An excellent Cypriot ambassadress .Keep well Lena and take good care of your self.
Love and regards

The point is Andreas they weren't referring specifically to 'Cypriots'! They were being rather cruel about 2 older ladies but people are being over sensitive re the racism.

But thank you for the nice remark.
