8) Sorry but is it me or does there seem an element of the playground about this thread?

the greek cypriots bash the turkish cypriots, the east Germans bash the west Germans, the southern English bash the Northern english and then france bashes England, England bashes Germany etc etc.
When people and nations lose the ability to laugh at themselves the world becomes a dangerous place.....
As an older person all this is water off a ducks back so make fun of me as much as you want..perhaps the thread should read SOME brits to satisfy those on here who hate to generalise about races...usually their own.
And it certainly isnt racism - i wonder how some people managed in life before they were able to wrap themselves in the banner of P.C. ?

BOF ... because the whole thread was deleted its difficult to use it as an example of mob-mentality picking on individuals.

Arguments were exchanged discussing the merits of laughter etc. and we are familiar with such debates in our more broad-ranging forumers here on CF ... So in the end, it was the bigotry of the CL Admin in selective removal of posts ( Aphrodite's) which tried to re-address the balance that weakened the whole display.

The last post this morning, before it was pulled, was from me which pointed out the above, as well as the leveller that CL could be closed as this had become a Privacy issue .....

Oracle when i wrote the above i was unaware that the particular thread had been pulled..and to be fair i am not in favour of deleting selective posts when someone is making a point of view without resorting to personal abuse or foul language.
But i do get edgy over the mob mentality picking on individuals theory.
I think we have to tread very carefully here...does that apply to several individuals commenting on a picture? any picture containing a person?
im thinking along the lines of 'supply the caption' type pictures or even tv programmes such as 'have i got news for you' ...I think Oliver Cromwell would be laughing ( ) in his grave today at the way P.C. has changed us forever..he was after all a hated puritan.

This was not a "Supply the Caption" this was a pure and simple Piss take of a couple of old dears, who happened to be Cypriot. What made it even worst was the fact that the Piss take also included the particular day. It may not be significant to the CL lot but it was very significant to many GCs so really it was a double insult IMHO.

Shame i didn't get to see the posts by Oracle and DT before it was pulled.

The point i made was that i did not agree with selective deleting by anyone of anyone who had a point to make and was not personally abusive or resorted to swearing. And see how easy it is to get it wrong? you used the words 'old dears' and in this PC crazy world you could be accused of Ageism...

While I don't think this particular instance was a case of racism, I do agree that Cyprus Living are usually a racist bunch. They are the chavvy type of expat, not really wealthy, with just enough money to retire here to a concrete box and eke out an existence. Because they spend their meagre pensions on keo beer and orphanides dog food they think we Cypriots should fall down and kiss their feet. These are the types of people who are nobodies in their own countries, yet they come to a small island to play the big shots.

I visited their page a few times but they are always whinging and moaning about Cypriots and putting them down. When the Cypriots used to do that in England the British used to give us a kicking and tell us 'f*ck off back to your own country'.

Here wes are kind and tolerant enough to put up with it. Do they appreciate it ? Hell no.

There was a few threads recently where they were being really abusive, calling Cypriots 'bastards' and such, and this coming from the ADMIN !

Search back on their site and you will find all kinds of abuse and mockery.

The Admin there has a Cypriot son in law and he should know better, but it seems he doesn't.
