Zan, to answer your original question the GC's will lose control of an island which the truely believe belongs soley to them. they will lose the ability to rule over a minority which they hate, and which hates them. they will lose tourism dollars, investment dollars, trade dollars, dollars that will start to flow from natural resources (oil, gas). influence in an important region, the ability to annoy Turkey. Finallt they will lose face, they were unable to hang onto an island on which they were a strong majority, most importantly they will lose to TURKS!!!

I wouldn't say lose. We have to WAIT for the Turks to become civilized. Sort of like waiting for a teen to act like an adult. They need baby steps.
