They posted ... could not qualify their position .... noticed I said I was off this thread ... they felt ignored and called out for me...
where's that Oraclos gone with his offer of a decent debate now we have the subject back?

I ignored ... they have done their deed to try and advertise for moaners .. and having being exposed had to leave with some dignity .. which usually means have a go at the exposee ....

There are plenty of threads for debate if that was what they wished ... but they stuck to their own ... and just want us to keep resurrecting this for them ... so let's not be used by them Niki ....

New members are reticent, trying to find their way and easily put off. Give them a break!

(I hope I am your friend but you frustrate the hell out of me!)

Thanks to all of you that have sent messages of support, I cannot reply as my Private Messaging seems to be blocked, but please message me your email, I will be glad to reply personally. It was interesting to note that most messages came from the ‘English’, my fellow compatriots seem to be annoyed with me for airing the dirty linen. This is regrettable, as denying that problems exist does not make them go away and such issues affect all Cypriots. Respect for and enforcement of individual rights would go along way to solving the majority of the island’s problems.

What I found sad was the number that said that they also no longer post on the forum. One would imagine that there is also a large number of individuals that are put off from ever posting their first topic or reply. I would implore the administrators and the moderators to enforce the rules of the forum. After all, members have a duty to abide by the rules and the admin/moderators owe a duty of care to all members.

Thanks again for you support

If I may just interject here, the bar association is useless, end of.

And here are the words from one lawyer I spoke to recently;

" ...... There has never been a case where a one lawyer has been challenged by another ..."

To get anywhere with the bar you have to fill in forms, pay the fee and wait about 10 years before they would even consider your case.

Oracle babe, sorry, I know it hurts, but I can tell you (and you know me right) that this Jay&rea has a valid point unfortunately.

This doesn't mean it doesn't go on in other countries too. I was stung to the tune of £35,000 in the UK, by the fact that the Judge and defendent were both masons! This came to me from my Barrister who was costing me a £1000 / min at that time.

It is true, lawyers fear no law in Cyprus, IMHO.

Pantheman ...

I only asked them about their research methods and who regulates them ... and they became extremely defensive.

They would rather attack me than qualify themselves ...

Poor show I say!

YAWN to you know who. There are many lawyers and developers that scratch each others backs, not only in Cyprus.I was fortunate and got an independant one for my purchase.I am now using him for my sale(when i get one!) but when I aproached an estate agent in Paphos they bad mouthed him (wanted me to use theirs no doubt) so I did'nt put my property with them.I hope my faith is not misplaced as it would be the last nail in the coffin!

I use two lawyers in Cyprus, one male well established and one female relatively newly qualified. I have never had a problem. I will add, I made sure they were not linked in any way to the businesses I deal with. Saying that Cyprus or Limassol is such a small place and most people genrally know someone involved, rule of thumb pay nothing up front and keep monthly tabs on progress.

The advice I was given about choosing a lawyer in Cyprus was always choose one from a different town to where you are buying. Its the best chance (but not a guarantee) you have of avoiding a conflict of interest.

Judging by earlier posts it seems that we are now required to submit a CV before commenting on any matter relating to Cyprus.
