Aid to northern Cyprus on the rise

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

VP and Zan,

Citrus produce from GC properties in the Morphou area was exported to the UK and Germany soopn after the invsion and is still going there today, so this isolation crap is not a block to developing trade. Stolen GC land is still being developed and sold to foreign buyers now, with no problem about isolations etc. Access to ports in the south is open any time, provided you have the proper EU certification which can be granted by the TC Chamber of Commerce, but the regime does not allow people to export through the south, it wants recognition of its illegal ports more than it wants trade.

The assertion that tourism is the mains tay of the RoC economy might have been true in the past, it is not true today. As for which tourists are the most valuable, on a per head spending sum, they are the same tourists who are most valuable in Turkey, mainland Greeks.

As for the creation of wealth as part of the cluture of each community I refer you to the writings of Thomson in 1878 and the comments he made about the residents of Famagusta. Creating wealth is different from being rich.

You skim over the problems here Nikitas......We have a stand off in Cyprus and the tickets required for export is in "RoC" hands. Any concessions to the "RoC" is tantamount to us forgetting our cause and letting the "RoC" win the fight. The isolation is real and exports are not going out under TC contracts or authority. Stop trying to blur the edges if you want to have a serious discussion. Anything we do has to go through the "RoC" whom we do not recognise....Simple as that. Are students are suffering and our tourist industry is suffering whilst you have the freedom to use our land as airports and roads through appropriation. The using of the "RoC" is tantamount to giving you all our ammunition in an all out war. It ain't gonna happen. That is why I keep saying that you have become sustainably rich on our property and rights while denying us ours as part of the siege that has been going on for 40 years. You are comparing apples and pairs if this is not taken into account.

SO recognition and not trade is the problem as I said. Recognising you means giving away all our rights to the north and as Talat said, the onwership and land of assets in the north is 16 per cent TC and the rest is GC. You are not asking for much are you!!!!

By the way, some TCs obviously have found ways to circumvent the Talat blockade, we are buying TC potatoes in Athens, nicely packed in red nets, two Eurocents cheaper per kilo than GC potatoes which are not as nicely packed. Some TCs know how to create wealth and are doing it despite Talat and Co.
