Thank you for your recent email.
If your broadband is dropping out at random times this is caused by it losing the DSL signal.
To obtain full signal of your broadband the recommended setup would be a modem/router plugged into the main BT socket downstairs, using no telephone extension leads which weakens a broadband signal.
Also if this does not improve your connection I would test it in the BT test socket which is located behind the faceplate of the main BT socket.

I got exactly the same response from AOL, when I was trying to set up my new Acer.. They must use the same text book or call center.
