He could just be a guy who really, really likes me and talking on the phone for 3 hours once in awhile in a new relationship is pretty normal for my age, but.. I feel smothered and I should know that those two things can be signs of future abuse!

I didn't read the other thread that people are talking about. But from what you write here it seems that the guy is in love with you. Due to his age he confuses his passion and sexual attraction to you with love
What you do next depends on you. If you don't like him much anyways then better brake up with him now. If you like him then tell him straight that all these words about love after just two weeks is just his hormones speaking and not his brains and that you want to take it slow to see if you two match and if he will have the same kinds of feelings after many months will pass. -
