It looks more like an agave - more commonly known as "century plant" it was thought at one time that it flowered once in 100 years - hence the name. It actually lives for around 20 - 25 yrs and once flowered it will die. The young offshoots around the base however will live on. Its a lovely specimen and you will be gob-smacked when that flower spike reaches it's full height - up to 8 meters!!! If it is a century plant - then the flowers will be yellow and when they die you will find seed capsules, these are very easy to germinate. The long stalk becomes very woody and will last for ages - enjoy!!!
